Hello. Today I want to start the story with a description of historical events. Here, listen to two passages.
One hundred and fifty thousand enemy army besieges the city for two months, which is defended by only four thousand brave men. Heroic defense gives time to gather troops and send them to the aid of the defenders. A great battle took place in which 30,000 enemy cavalry were ambushed. The heavy cavalry got stuck in the swamp and was completely destroyed. The entire color of the enemy nobility perished. A wonderful victory, the fruits of which could not be used due to betrayal.
And here is the second passage:
35 thousand soldiers faced almost twice the enemy forces. Due to the commander's mistake, 4,000 cavalrymen were surrounded and defeated. But the remaining army steadfastly repelled all enemy attacks and was able to retreat with minimal losses.
You may have guessed that this is a description of the same events. More precisely, the Battle of Konotop. Only from different sides. The first passage is the superficial opinion that a careless reader will get if he goes to the Ukrainian page on Wikipedia, and the second - if he goes to the Russian one.
This is a prime example of how diametrically opposed opinions can be when it comes to Russian-Ukrainian relations! And really, what kind of relationship was that? A story about the heroic struggle for the independence of a small but proud nation from the hordes of East Asians? Or the story of the reunification of " two fraternal peoples" to the envy of enemies?
