Wow, that is such a great tip! Thank you, have really been struggling in the transition from film to digital as I love black and white, but had more work than I liked with getting to a good result when converting RAW files.

Interesting! I added it to my B&W presets. Here's another one based on each colors perceived luminosity (to make color tv films look good on B&W TV:s in the old days). R 30%, Y 89%, G 59%, C 70%, B 11% and M 41%.

Love your teaching style! Thank you! Total Newb when it comes to digital editing. I create with b&w film. Would these presets work with a b&w negs or more for converting color levels to shades of gray.

Thats a great tip to make a b&w starting point preset. Thanks. Is there any way to get a pure black and white image in Affinity Photo, one without a hint of other colours? My finished results can often show a warm or cool cast, although very subtle. Thanks for any suggestions.
@davro06

You're welcome @bourbon_sketcher, pleased that you enjoyed the video. As for the colour cast, that could be for a variety of reasons. It could be your monitor...the colour settings you are using. If you try using HSL adjustment and take the Sat. down to -100% does the cast still show? Hope this helps David

@@davro06 Hello David, since writing my comment, I thought about reducing the saturation under the HSL setting, to -100% and that did the trick. Its reassuring to know that that is your suggestion. Thank you for your reply 👍

Do you make these changes in the RAW file and then develop them to jpg, or did you first develop them to jpg and then make the changes to BW?
