I love the natural aspirated V6 over the 4 Cylinder Turbo. With the turbos, there are more things that can go wrong, it adds weight to the vehicle, and burns through the oil faster. With all turbo you want to let the vehicle run a minute + for the oil to settle where it needs. And after cranking your vehicle, you must let it run a minute + especially before hitting the acceleration. This is all done to help keep the engine to last longer. And you can not deny physics, forced air will run the engine quicker.

The Toyota Tacoma was my dream truck. When a buddy let me borrow his 2017 SR5 I was over the moon. I got in that beautiful machine I’ve alwys dreamed of put that beeeotch in Drive and……HATED IT. It’s slow and lumbery it’s engine was a high output so it jerked worse than an epileptic goth kid at a Barn Rave. I dubbed it ThaJoysOver SlowComa after 10 mins of driving it. It stopped on a half dollar and the turning radius was that of a Sherman Tank. I didn’t like the hood or were it felt like it put me on the road. Also you have to put in Nintendos Infinite life code with the gear shift just to put it back in park left right left right up down up down over left. I got the tail light cracked the second day and had to sell a kidney just to get a new housing for it. When I hit the gas it was like it took seconds for the wheels to catch up so you’d hear this high throaty growl like my Aunt Kathy waking up looking for her camel full flavors right before I’d be thrown Thru tha windshield. I left that truck with a headache a sore neck one less kidney but worst of all a broken heart. I wanted to love you Taco I wanted to love you so bad but like all my other past relationships you left me beat to hell, broke and highly disappointed. Idk talk about never meeting your hero’s. But If Nissan keeps making them look this good they may have some competition and I’ll have another crush.

The fact that Toyota chose the add port injection along side the meat and potatoes which is the direct injection. Adding the port injection is to wash down the valves as to not get carbon build up over time. Meanwhile the frontier has strictly direct injection but people swear that there is no issue with carbon build up. Toyota doesn’t just add things just to add them and increase the cost which tells me that carbon build up is a serious problem on direct injection only engines. Toyota is always a step ahead of the competition when it comes to longevity and reliability. Frontier is a sweet truck don’t get me wrong but toyota give me confidence and peace of mind which is why I bought a Tacoma

Also ease of maintenance with the truck itself. I traded in a 2017 Tacoma SR 4x4 CC for a 2019 Frontier SV Midnight 4x4 CC, the last year for the 4.0L. The Frontier is a bare bones truck with no flare or snob appeal, less gadgets, it's a simple drain & fill for the drive lines & it's on a latter frame not to mention independent aftermarket part manufacturers with a strong following. Although I love my Yotas, I still have my 2014 Scion & 2011 Venza, I have to admit Nissan has been slowly kicking the Tacoma off its throne LATELY. From costing far less than a Tacoma and the ability to Titan swap suspension, engine & drivelines I'll stick with the Frontier. They are extremely underrated for their capabilities. 🤙🏽

But, would you rather have a powerful standard, or a powerful exception? That's a no brainer for me, as a city dweller. Its simply supply and demand. Nissan sells like 50k of these a month toyota sells 250k tacomas in a month and there is still high demand and low supply. With these its neaely the opposite where they make 50k and they sell them but i mean they arent selling 250k so they get to where theyre willing to sell more for less. If they can lower the price for a better truck maybe the price goes down 5% but they sell 10% more after that so its worth it. If nissan sold.250k of these a month youd see them cost the same as a tacoma but most people dont wamt a nissan because their cars are not as good of quality control but the trucks are more durable by design because theyre trucks so you see.them doing a better job on them and since they are way less popular you can snag a deal thays decent enough in this hyper inflated nightmare

Every single one had a leaking rear differential, which after talking to Nissan, was considered acceptable according to their tolerances.) Let that sink in. 3. Half of them had f*cked up touch screens already, fogged up. 4. Not a single one of them could engage the rear diff locker. Seriously I tried 10. 10! And not one could engage the locker. 5. The center grab handles were either broken or about to break. They are flimsy af. 6. Most had front quarter panels that were separating from the rest of the body. 7. EVERY SINGLE ONE, already had dry rotted leaf spring bushings. I mean every one of them. 8. None of them had the advertised ground clearance. 9. None of them had the advertised bed length. Anyways, I have 5 more but I’ll save you the trouble. After looking at how they, and the rangers, held up after less than a year, I looked at used taco’s. And found they were in the exact same shape as the new tacos. So I got a new tacoma. Sorry, Nissan had reliable trucks back in the 90’s, but today they’re sh*tx The Titan however is still a decent truck.

The old one was more reliable than i thought they were and the new one will be a v6 selling at the same time toyota and ford are doing hybrid 4s and i think people like that v6. The problem is the v6s get junk mpg they do turbo 4s for mpg because they want to hybrid it too which okay but say goodbye to long term reliability snd affordability with that. If im buying a truck i want to keep it for 15 or 20 years and sell it to a highschooler or something and they wont want it if they need a new hybrid battery a turbo system it burns oil it needs buttons repalced it needs more air filters than before. Befor eyou know it its totalled just becsise its too expensive to keep running and at the same time the v6 will just drive right by even at 20 years old its got 200k+ miles on it and doesnt need a battery doesnt need a turbo the engine less stressed so itll hold more value in the resale market. If rather have 20mpg instead of 24mpg if it means the complexity is like half so the reliability will be like double. Ita a truck they get bad mpg anyway is it worth all that complexity for so little advantage?

Yep my biggest gripe against the tacoma is the plastic bed. On a truck that can cost up to $80K. You can't properly tie anything down without the fear of cracking the bedsides. Then you also have the issue of the c channel flimsy frame.

@@SupramanTRD 80k!!!! Where the hell are you buying trucks man I’ve never heard of a tacoma going for more than 60k and that’s still way overpriced. I agree with you that these trucks are getting way too expensive, but I have to strongly disagree with the slander on the composite bed. I bought a brand new 2005 tacoma and drove it for 15 years and 250,000 miles. That bed was durable as hell and the adjustable tie downs were phenomenal. I threw everything and anything back there rock, gravel, mulch, tools, furniture, dirt bikes, and it never broke cracked or dented. It was way more durable than my 2007 F150 steel bed that rusted out on me. The only complaint I ever had about the tacoma composite bed was it was very slippery, but a rubber bed mat fixed that and it still today was the best and most durable truck I’ve ever owned. And I did not baby it at all because it was work truck.

It’s a midsize man, you don’t buy a tacoma to pull a 7000 pound trailer. I had a 2005 I bought brand new to use as my work truck and to this day that little tacoma was the best truck I’ve ever owned. Did everything my F150 did but pull a trailer over 6000 pounds. I beat the shit out of that truck and would routinely put 1400 pounds in the bed, sometimes more and it handled it flawlessly. I get it it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the tacoma is hands down one of the greatest trucks ever made.

Don’t get what you mean by imported because my truck was built and assembled in San Antonio Texas, whereas my F150 was built in Mexico. I find there are more nissan and Toyota trucks built here in the states than the big 3. Listen the tacoma is an acquired taste, but saying it’s the worst vehicle on the road today is just asinine. It literally has a global reputation of being the most reliable and durable vehicle on the planet lol. Beo the midsize truck market theyre all like that. You gotta move up to like a f150 silverado etc to get any real leg room. Front seats on these midsize always have priority to the comfort. The backseats are for children teemagers or adults who arent back there for hours and hours and hours unless you really have to. Its actually not bad though. I could sit back there 3 hours to the big city ridd around and 3 hours back. Less leg room is worse.when you start sitting in tbe abck seat on much longer trips like 12+ hour trips multi day trips. If you habe kids or teenagers its fine.
