Got mine second hand on Ebay early 2020 for 600 shipped to Texas from Chicago. Saddle burnt orange leather, full pollished...super sweet deal. There were a few things that needed to be addressed, like the arms movement function didnt work well, and some wear on the leather. IVe been slowley repairing small things here and there over the years. This is one of those pieces that i'll keep forever!

Found a used no headrest variant for 50 bucks... Comfiest chair I've ever sat on.

did sit in one, only in wool (leather is so stiff, i hated it), and loved it very much! Important note is that this chair is not for lying down since headrest keeps your head at 90 degree which hurts when you lie down on it.

Great chair I owned one. Wish the headrest can be moved forward instead of just up or down. I also owned the Embody but ended up selling it. The one I currently use daily is the Steelcase Gesture with headrest. But getting back to the Freedom, there's an adjustment you can do if you flip your chair upside down. Using an allen wrench you can either tighten or loosen (based on your preference) how your chair reclines.

Thanks for this info I just ordered this chair. I got a "new open box" one in the US for $550. I get 30 days to test it and return if I don't like it. I really hope this is the chair for me

Hurray! first 'real' video for the channel🥳 I'm aware of some small issues with the autofocus and audio, will improve on the next video. Let me know what you think.

What is this chair like for tall people? I’m 6ft 1. I’ve seen on other reviews that the arm rest is very low and taller people may struggle for arm support.

Hi that's actually a very good point, which I forgot to talk about in the video. But I can actually confirm it's a limitation. I'm same length (185cm) and for me the highest setting is ok. But on my other chairs I would normally have the the armrest like a half inch higher.

@@thingsthoughts Thanks for the quick reply. Would you say it's a dealbreaker or do you still have enough arm support? Also, on another note, what is it like to sit with one leg tucked under or both legs crossed?

@@dan_reyno No deal breaker for me, I'm satisfied with the chair as you can see. But if you're in doubt try out the chair in some store, or order it with the possibility to return. About the leg positions: I NEVER sit like that so I wouldn't know hahaha I'm too fat and not-nimble :)

Great video, thanks.. Any thoughts on leather vs fabric?

Thanks! From my research on the second hand market: the leather options seems to be a lot more durable. I've seen many used Freedom's where the fabric has become worn out and completely seperated from the foam under it. Like loose skin. Making it unusable in my opinion. I've not yet seen a leather variant with that issue.

Thank you for the fantastic review! I'm wondering if the leather is slippery when you sit on it?
@thingsthoughts
4 ай бұрын
It's more slippery than fabric, yes. So you have to be a bit more mindfull, otherwise you can have the effect of sliding off a bit. I found that it's usually caused and fixed by 2 things: 1. If the height is not set correctly (too high) then you can tend to slide off when leaning back. I get this when I'm not wearing shoes or slippers. The 1-2 cm's make a difference. An easy fix is to lower the height ofcourse. 2. Making sure I'm sitting far enough back in the first place. If your not properly sitting against the backrest, you also tend to slide off. Depth is adjustable by the way.

Is that much better than aeron? have aeron for many years now, I love the mesh and the way it looks but it's too formal. I can't be in other positions that aeron forces me to do. I play video games and watch youtube a lot I like to rest and have other positions than "straight one" that aeron want you to have. What do you have to say about it with humanscale? Will it be okay for that?

Hi Don, I also really like the Aeron as I said in the video. I might actually end up owning both long term and rotate whenever I feel. Because they are just different. In your specific example, yes the Humanscale Freedom is more forgiving for different postures. Mainly because of the Aeron’s mesh seating which is very much shaped and has a rigid framing around it, which I know is not comfortable to sit on. The Freedom doesnt have that. I can recommend to try and test the chair somewhere at a retailer, it can be worth the effort.

It’s the Alienware aw3423dwf (qd-oled). There are many reviews about it. Still good value, even there are now newer models with 2nd gen panels.
