@@JaGieLLoN_Definitely, but it's not only the warmup but slowly progressing load over weeks. As the bicep usually isn't trained much in the lengthened position, there is next to no load for the first quarter of a normal bicep curl. Same with people tearing biceps on deadlifts 🤢

@@liadhol1 and the strongest weightlifter ever is Lasha, at 6 6. I think short is the wrong term, its short for there weight and that comes down to weight categories, where someone 4 inches shorter at tge same weight will carry more muscle. In olympic lifting its the same but ive been amazed over the last few years how many longer limbed guys have made it to the top.

When I was younger, and now actually, I would do the first exercise in a doorway. I always liked the fuller extension and it always felt like it was a better workout than any other curls that I do and will continue to do. I think familiarity with all types of movements is highly important. And so having variability in the way that you are building up your biceps, in terms of just practical use, has always been better for me. But I'm exercising for practical use. I'm not exercising for body building. Different goals require different techniques to meet them.

They're very different in practice though. Being in a stable seated position is far better for hypertrophy, and the first one puts far more stress on the shoulder. If you were to draw a free body diagram of where the forces are all acting, including reaction forces, there's some pretty large differences

I use the suspension trainer to do a bicep curl but I am turned the other way around, I feel like this version would totally injure my shoulders. Maybe I'll ease into it and give him a try 🏋️
@junkiedropouts3186
Ай бұрын
It might, that is sensible. But there is a difference in how the bicep is activated if you have shoulder front elevation (like any curl in the front tends to cause) as the bicep attaches at the shoulder and is therefore shortened. It's why people start almost shrugging/power cleaning the last few reps of barbell curls

Are incline curls better with cables than dumbbells?
@axlvanaudenhove6564
Ай бұрын
Almost no difference, but cable's always has the edge on isolation exercises. Problem is it often requires a little more setup. The reason why cables have the edge is because it has tension on every part of the movement. With dumbbells you are reliant to gravity. As you can see here the cable is in an angle to maximize tension in every position of the movement with some emphasise on the stretched position of the muscle which is preferred for muscle growth. With dumbbells, the tension is 0 when your muscle is in the stretched position because you can just let the weight hang in that position. You'll feel it when you try it. It is still emphasised in the stretched position, but not as much as the cable.

When I do dumbbell curls, does it matter if my palms face towards my body or face forward? When my palms face forward, the dumbbell hits me in the chest. So I started doing it Karate chop style with my palms facing my body. I realize it works slightly different muscles in the arm, perhaps? Maybe I'll just do both.

With my pelican curls, I've only been focusing on a difficult/angled eccentric motion, but should I adjust my positioning for a possible concentric motion with an easier angle? 🤔 👀
@axlvanaudenhove6564

Not necessary. The eccentric has all the pro's of a concentric as well. This way you get a bigger range of motion and produce more force, so you'll improve quicker with only eccentric.
