I was 10 in 1980 and 20 in 1990... 30 in 2000... I have to tell ya, the 90s were an eclectic time for music... the industry was up in upheaval when hairbands went belly up... the labels were willing to let a huge variety of bands take a shot at selling records.. "alternative" became pop the minute it was labeled as such on the radio... I took a lot of bands back then for granted, but now.. when I listen.. the times I spent scoffing at some of these bands.. I wish I had those moments back.. just a little while longer..

I called this kind of "Grunge, Altnerative, Political Science" rock of the 90's, "Veggie Rock", because of the lush greenery that is North California-and the North Pacific states. And their general political messages. There were alot of political upheavals as the world adjusted to a post cold war, as the fledgling experiment with the internet allowed for greater access which both right and left spectrum were able to promote their ideologies. Not only, political but the world got smaller more connected through vacation and travel and hidden exotic communities were able to connect to the world.

I was born in 91. Growing up I thought this was just how the radio always was and always would be. I thought "Alternative" was a staple and artists could do what they wanted how they wanted. I thought eclectic music was as normal as sliced bread. Boy, talk about a wake-up call watching it become a commodity until it too eventually went belly up. The 90's were definitely a different time, I can recognize that and I barely made the cut-off to remember anything from them. However it is unfortunate things are different now, I'm (like many others) fortunate enough to have seen such a time that artistic expression was emphasized over big hair and scantily clad women and humbled to see how every up and coming art form ends up, commercialized and eventually run out.

My dearest Tammy This song. Every time we rode around aimlessly in my truck, every time we went to the bar, everywhere we went together, this song came on the radio. Even when we went to that festival at the race track- when we got inside, Better Than Ezra was on the stage, and this was the song they were playing. So many memories are attached to this song for me. I can see your sparkling blue eyes when you’d smile at me so sweetly. Our time was so short together relatively, but it felt like a wonderful lifetime spent with you. I look back on our time with much fondness. Long ago, I forgave you in my heart. A complete forgiveness that is so rare in the hearts of men. I only prayed that you found the same within your own. I love you more than you realized. I miss you more than you’ll ever know. If they bring up your name, I’ll just say you won the war. All my love to you, girl. Always.

This. Song. Makes. Me. CRY!!! It's one of those songs that reminds you of your childhood and when everything was sunshine and smiles. Those endless summers, sweet friendships, hot days, starry nights, beating hearts..... It makes you want to go back. Go back to the way it used to be, go back to when the world was so big and new, go back to when we only saw the good and never thought too much of the bad, go back to when home felt the most like home.

i grew up listenin 2 this band when i wz14 & they were just comin out & theyre awesome! but i wz also brought up listening 2 some hip hop/rap and R&B, not just rock music. im not really fond of the ways of modern hip hop but tht doesn't stop it from being good in other aspects. sounds 2 me that ure learning hate in the world & being inlfuenced by negative ppl. The DIVERSITY of sounds is what REALLY makes GOOD music. This world wld be messed up if we only had 1 category. "Hate teaches prejudice."

on their bid day, running from a certain central place to their respective houses. They wanted to join the fraternity so badly that they never tired, we're always "desperately wanting." You can read the rest of the lyrics with the ample stereotypes of hellish fraternity pledging ("filled you full of those pills", "kick'em right in the face", "make'em wish they weren't born," etc) and it pretty much spells itself out.

The part about "the letters have dropped off" is a reference to another LSU tradition that I don't fully understand (tho I have heard brothers from the chapter mention it), but the "letters" are clearly the Greek ones. Asking what went wrong when u never had it right.. is a reference to the fact that pledges are never right and, most fittingly, "finally figured ouy some things you'll never know" refers to initiation and finally learning the Ritual,

but it all adds up in the end if you know certain aspects of Kappa Sig (especially Southern KS) pledgeship. For instance: "Pass the house, that you never call home" (pledges, seen as practically sub-human were (are) constantly reminded that the frat house is the ACTIVE's house and NOT the pledges). The chorus ("I remember running through the wet grass...") comes from a tradition of pledges,
