Johnny should write a book. Would love to hear some of his stories. Brave man to take on Charles Byrnes. Biggest crook in racing.

Sir Mark Prescott season after season gets 2M stayers hcp'd running in 6F races, gets a mark of 50 and wins10 in a row and is regarded as a 'master trainer'. The art of a crook!

Interesting points. This is what baffles me about Ben at Star. He takes on all the big players and apparently doesn`t lay off. The big players ` know ` what they`re doing , so why take them on ?

Wtf is “getting on da end of de line?”
@jackdineen8983
Жыл бұрын
It means turning up at a race meeting where you didn’t have a pitch and hoping that not everyone that owned a pitch would turn up and then you got have got an opportunity to work at the end of the line. You’d have one of the worst positions but at least you’d be allowed the chance. If everyone turned up then you didn’t get on

Think there was an economic downturn in Ireland at the time and the money wasn't around at the track as much

@@dermottobin9 he only says that he lost every race for 3 months and packed it in. He did not actually explain why he lost for those 3 months in a row. How are bookies making money online today?

I can remember both clearly Paul, but I was only a kid then. I used study them both although they were totally different operators. Even though they were contrasting men, they were both fascinating people
