I know artists thrive of the energy of the audience and it's fun to sing along to the lyrics but some cultures aren't like your typical American concert goers. I'm coming from a kpop concert goer perspective and yeah we can get rowdy in America but when the same group goes to Japan you can notice the difference. They're respectfully quite and enjoy the concert occasionally screaming or chanting. Like in Korea they use to sit through the whole concert, do fan chants and scream unless the group would tell everyone to get up and jump. I don't know if things have changed but that's what it use to be like years ago. In Brazil they tend to sing word for word all the lyrics alongside the group. People enjoy music differently hopefully she's able to see that.

Yes! I never been to Japan or Korea but I've been enjoying several shows so I kinda know that some cultures are different when it comes to concerts. I was especially surprised the first time I saw a video on one of my favorites singers and saw the whole concert be super quiet like, the silence was so loud, except for the artist singing. I loved it but it was so different so I understand why so e people are taken aback because of this. Now obviously this is different than the "Black ocean" with no lights or people supporting you. So yes, sure. I also love the screaming rage energy others have. I hope Beyonce understand this is a different culture and it's not some beef with her.😅

It’s funny when non performers speak on things they don’t know. Perhaps if Beyoncé was Adele, someone who sings ballads and just stands in the center of a stage with a live band/ orchestra to sing with no dancing or dancers she wouldn’t care about energy. But if you perform the way Beyoncé does with dancers with staging with the band, you like to have the interaction of the crowd. Hell even Taylor who moves around more than Adele tends to look for audience interaction. 2 different types of performers, those who perform in a way that interaction doesn’t matter and those who perform where interaction adds more fun to the show. The hate some people are giving because an artist enjoys performing for hyped fans is wild.

When being classy and attending a concert to actually listen and enjoy the music somehow requires the apologetic excuse of being "shy". They paid for tickets to watch Beyonce perform, not to perform for Beyonce. Attend a classical music concert. No-one's screaming at the solo pianist: "Slay Queen!" The audience's silence is considered respectful to the musicians and fellow audience members, who've paid to hear music. I have no doubt Sweden's silence at a Beyonce concert was a cultural response that intended respect.

But if the crowd is going to be quiet then the performance might not be as high energy. Especially the backup dancers cause it is very awkward to be dancing to a quiet crowd. I get that it's a cultural thing but you can't give performers nothing and expect a great show.

A concert is meant to be an experienced, and a pop artists with lyrics to a classical music concert. Two different experiences. Artists seak to interact with the crowd and vice versa. It's supposed to make you feel like you are a part of the show, you are also supposed to share energy. The artist and the audience give the same energy to each other. If you're dead a performer isn't going to want to give them their all. A classical music concert is ONLY meant for the audience to listen, not participate, and if you don't know the difference, Idk what to tell you.
@popcultureperspectives164

@@Heat_Rush My point is that different cultures likely have different concepts of what a concert is and the accompanying etiquette required as evidenced by an entire culture's apology to a single performer for being "shy". This while clearly the dynamics of concert etiquette has changed over time, because you can pull up old interviews with John Lennon and hear his disgust with The Beatles concert-attending audience of screaming girls that drowned out the music. He didn't understand why they came to a music concert if they didn't want to hear the music? It's one of the reasons Lennon wanted to quit being a Beatle. So, I also don't know what to tell you? I'm explaining cultures and cultural differences and you're making it about me and my alleged ignorance when, again, a whole culture apologized to a single performer for being "shy" for reasons that their concert etiquette and motives are different.

Beyoncé needs to just sing and not shade her audiences. For everyone who wants to defend Beyoncé, just remember a couple of things: 1. You pay to see her, she doesn’t pay to see you. 2. If she really wants to compare audiences, then she clearly will turn it into a competition which obviously will ruin the concert for people.

Arrogant- sharping great self interest or hubris. You mean to tell me Beyoncé is arrogant not for dissing the crowd, or having a tantrum but by saying that a crowd ( a very loud and energetic one) was the best one so far?

Was this the first time beyond performed in Sweden? I was going to say maybe the people of Sweden are not like us Americans at shows and concerts. Beyonce should never insult her fans because they're paying her bills.

Beyoncé I love you. Please come back to Denver. I was at a show a long time ago…I think it was our Summer Jam and Destiny’s Child was performing. Beyoncé was doing the same thing to us. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. Most people weren’t paying attention. Bey never came back. 💔
