This album with the accompanied movie told a story so deep, so complete, raw and honest. Knowing how private Beyoncé keeps her live this was her truly bearing her soul. Grammy’s don’t mean much in comparison to the art but damn! If Beyoncé ever deserved a Grammy for album of the year it would’ve been this one. She literally takes you on a journey and the movie even tells another story that’s buried within this one. I can’t put into words how brilliant this album was and still is to this day! Brava 👏🏾

When you were talking about the different styles of music some have said the song reflect the 7 stages of grief: depression, denial, bargaining, loneliness, anger, sadness and acceptance
@casiedomingos5197
2 жыл бұрын
This is correct! In the visuals it was divided in 12 chapters: intuition , denial, anger, apathy, emptiness, loss, accountability, reformation, forgiveness, resurrection, hope, redemption. In the visual (movie) that was released with the album, the 12 stages are accompanied with beautiful poetry written by Warsan Shire, spoken by Beyoncé. It is so beautiful I can’t even put it in to words. You literally follow the journey and have extra context to what the pain did to/for her and how she had to overcome it.

Amazing reaction by an intelligent person finally. I love that u get it. Now u know why Adele broke her Album of The Year Grammy when she won over Beyonce's Lemonade. Anti is a solid album and I'm glad it exists but I agree it is just not as strong a work as Lemonade. So, for Daddy Lessons. Beyonce talks about her father. Who was the manager of Destiny Child before the group fired him. He also cheated on her mother and had a child with his mistress. Now, Papa Knowles was very strict and no nonsense. He had her running in high heels to train her for her dreams to come true. He had her studying music and how to create harmonies. She was ALWAYS working. At one point Beyonce wasn't speaking to him because he cheated while working for her. It was crazy. her mom, of course, moved on and remarried. But it was rough. Jay Z, himself and his own cheating, actually helped her forgive her father.

She really should have. Now, I'm no die-hard Beyoncé fan, but fair is fair. If she deserved the album of the year award for any of her albums... it was hands down lemonade. I also love that Adele, even though she won the award, made sure to give Beyoncé her well-deserved flowers and respect. I don't think anyone in history has ever broken their award in half just to honor another artist.

Hmm that's so interesting about your perspective on the "jealous or crazy" line--I like it! I always interpreted it as what is worse: being jealous because it's true that there's someone to be jealous of because that would reveal that you're actually being cheated on OR being crazy because you're being paranoid about being cheated on but it's not actually happening. So to me, Beyoncé is saying that she would rather be mentally ill and have a loyal partner than be proven right in her doubts and investigations that the love of her life has completely betrayed her--that the latter would definitively hurt more. As it turns out, she wasn't crazy.

The Bill Gates lyric is two-fold. Yes, it is about influence but it also has to do with her and Jay Z other business venues especially in the tech world. And now that I think about it... it could also be about net-worth. Jay Z is a multi-billionaire all on his own. And Beyonce is no slouch. So, that conversation can have so many different levels to it that it would be an interesting conversation to have.
