This the theme of the whole album: Genres have simple definitions but can be confining in practice. She's showing how a dynamic musical artist with guts can switch up her style. Because music can be expression of all things. She won't be told what music she can & cannot do.

Well, she had to after getting caught not putting their names. Look at "America Has a Problem". That whole melody behind the track is from a Nine Inch Nails song. No credit given.
@moderndaymedusa82
2 ай бұрын
@@hutch1197 That's not true. The whole song comes from another song called Cocaine. It's a direct lift from a song that came out in the 90s. And she credited the sample. You can't just make stuff up. Why would you even say this?
@hutch1197
2 ай бұрын
@moderndaymedusa82 The "Cocaine" sample is not the part I was talking about. It's the low, ominous melody beneath the dance track. Go listen to "Sin" by Nine Inch Nails at the 2:30 mark and then listen to Bey's song at the 0:16 mark. It's the EXACT melody. I'm sure you'll have some sort of required Beyhive defense.
@WindRegalia07
2 ай бұрын
@@hutch1197 If an artist's song has a melody similar to another artist's song but includes their own unique elements, it may or may not be considered a sample. if the similarity is more superficial or if the new artist has significantly transformed the melody and added their own creative elements, it might not be considered a direct sample. Instead, it could be seen as drawing inspiration from the original melody, which is a common music practice. Ultimately, whether it's considered a sample or not depends on factors such as the degree of similarity, the originality of the new artist's work, and whether they obtained permission or properly licensed any elements they used from the original song. So it's up to the band which I listen to as well, but there is no predominant article or feedback on that. It’s the same chord progression but that’s about it. I don’t think anything will (or should) come of it.

How are we not classifying her as a rapper? She laid down bars and then serenaded us.

I get what she was talking about when she talked about the guests coming through the back door past the dirty dishes: Mainstream country artists appropriated what was originally African music and then when Beyonce wanted to represent at the CMAs they turned HER into the opposition... even though Country's roots are in African slaves. Super intelligent.
