The Germans went with this mix because their fuel was a much lower octane than the allies, especially towards the end of the war decent fuel for the Germans was scarce, this was yet another very clever engineering trick utilized by the German engineers to get more power.

Actually, don't turn off mw50 in kurfurst. It has a lot of it, you will run out of fuel before mw50.

Those units are pressure atm units and means 1.9 bars of pressure , this roughly equals to 1900hp maybe something less

Its not atm (physical atmosphere) but at (technical atmosphere) and it doesnt equal bar, even if its fairly close. 1,9 ata = 1,833 bar. 1,9 atm = 1,9252.

Pretty sure for the dora MW 50 only works at 100% throttle like the K4. At least that is how it works in IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles

Interestingly, in aircraft with bendix stromberg injection carbs (Spitfire/Mustang), fuel is metered by the carburettor Air flow and injected into the supercharger intake.

Even today water injection as it’s called is still extremely useful especially on smaller sized turbocharged engines. It cools the incoming air charge and at the same time can actually steam clean the engine intakes. It also allows you to run higher boost settings for longer. They found it also offsets lower quality gasoline. Us fighters and UK aircraft had a WEP setting which would do something similar. But it’s pretty unique that a lot of stuff like the GM-1 nitrous oxide booster ( nicknamed the ha-ha system) and water meth injection could shove the German piston engine fighters to short bursts of upwards of 1900 to 2000 horsepower. Though the P47 thunderbolt was the king of WEP with a shot of water meth giving that barge a short shot of 3400 horsepower

Just finished installing a "fogging" system on a Nat Gas power plant. It'll add about 10% capacity to the plant. It uses some pumps that spray in a shit load of water through a system of fog nozzles into the intake. It's amazing how fast that "room" fills up with fog when it's kicked on.. anyways, it's just a lil boost that gets shot into the area before the compressor on the gas turbine

Do WW2 modules have campaign? And is it necessary to buy Normandy map for campaign to work?

No 'proper' campaign comes with any of the WW2 planes. You'll need to buy one separately.

400 hp from using a different type of fuel...that's quite amazing :0 Also what actually happens if you do inject gasoline in the supercharger?
@warsissy1145

It probably blows up
@Stahlwollvieh

It's not actually a different kind of fuel. MW50 isn't fuel as such, it's more like coolant for the incoming air. Allows for higher compression which in turn makes for more efficient combustion/allows you to use more fuel per stroke.
@Stahlwollvieh

PS: The lever that allows you to switch from supercharger injection to fuel line injection isn't actually functional in DCS, sadly. Not entirely sure what would happen though.
@warsissy1145

I think the engine would blow up due to a massive surge of fuel being injected via the supercharger or at least experience some level of damage due to the engine suddenly over-revving because instead of a coolant it would be using its fuel making the incoming air very fuel rich. Basically the engine would runaway in a sense. But I'm not an engineer I'm simply guessing.

Copy. It's not actually a fuel, it's more of a combustion additive to cool the combustion down, to achieve good "uniform flame propagation in the cylinders"

Germans didn't want to use an intercooler?
@grimreapers
5 жыл бұрын
I thought about that... just assumed it was before the days of IC's?
@acookiegimme4894

I think it comes down to practicality. As demonstrated by the P-47s, a dedicated intercooler would take up lots of space, weigh a lot, is complicated and expensive and worst of all: not very durable under fire. Should the intercooler were to be destroyed the aircraft would lose a couple hundred of hp and be stuck with another couple hundred kilos of dead weight. All in all I think the injection is a superior solution when we take the 109 platform's performance and characteristics as well as Germany's war situation at that time into consideration

Some variants of the Jumo 213 engine did use an intercooler. Namely the Jumo 213E used in the Ta 152.

@@acookiegimme4894 the P-38 had intercoolers but those were built into the booms. The Jug had massive design concessions for the intercooler. As did most allied heavy bombers. The 109 really didn’t have the space for it cause it already had a really narrow frontal are. The 109 also had that little ram air duct which rammed cold air right into the impeller

Excellent video as always, from what I know the German fighters had at least 20-30 minutes of MW-50, the engine will overheat long before the MW-50 is finished
