Is it ok to do the flush at 170-180F after driving? Or do I have to let it sit overnight so the process can be performed at 86F for safe?

Had this transmission fluid done at a jiffy lube and yes i told them to add the ATC plus. My question is have you heard of Primus transmission fluid? That's what they used plus the ATC. Thanks for the video any feedback appreciated

If you're going to jiffy lube, it won't matter what you tell them to put in. Lazy people that don't give a shit about their vehicle go to jiffy lube

i predict this guy is a decent mechanic. but hes no spokes person. at 3:50 he said the fluid flows from the transmission, to & thru the PF5, then back to the transmission. that is NOT correct. the OLD fluid is quarantined in the machine...then the new flows to the transmission.

On vehicle transmissions with a pan that can be dropped, with a replaceable serviceable transmission filter, and a magnet, aren't you supposed to drop the pan, clean the pan, clean the magnet, change out the filter---AND ONLY THE---hook up the flush machine, thereby reducing the chance that particles from the old transmission filter will possibly be flushed into other parts of the transmission such as the valve body and internal passages, while you are doing the flush? (And wouldn't dropping and cleaning the pan and magnet and replacing the filter be especially important before flushing, if you were to change the fluid on an older automatic transmission that was neglected for 150,000 or 200,000 or more miles but is still shifting, and likely had a filthy filter, and pan, and magnet?) Shouldn't you hook the machine up in the correct order (hoses on the correct path pushing fluid in the correct flow direction) BEFORE you let the machine advise you that "Buddy, ya got the hoses hooked up backwards!!" How does the machine know this?---Is there a pressure differential that is stronger when fluid flows in the wrong direction as I imagine? Wouldn't that mean that there was a period (as brief as it may be) where the fluid was possibly driving filth into internal nooks and crannies? Didn't Toyota and GM and other manufacturers advise against placing any cleaners or detergents into their transmission to clean it, since the flush machine might leave some of this cleaner in with the new transmission fluid? Shouldn't you replace the fluid only with new transmission fluid and not any added substances to improve shifting? Perhaps such a service is acceptable for some cars such as those with closed transmissions filled with "lifetime" fluid, where the filter can't even be accessed as a maintenance procedure, & where the fluid is changed at regular intervals. --BUT!--Then that would mean any added detergents or additives would be entirely unnecessary. Maybe I am out of date and getting this wrong. ---Can anyone explain this further?

@Jimmy S Thanks for your response! As I understand it, with regular maintenance (including changing out the a/t fluid at regular intervals, which is not even emphasized from the manufacturer in many vehicles) it makes sense to exchange out the old fluid only since the filter would have almost no chance of being full of debris and the magnet's main function is to catch metal debris right after manufacture). According to a number of Ford engineers which I read about online, the main function of the a/t filter & magnet is to actually catch debris that were left inside the transmission right after manufacture (or re-manufacturing), and thus, even after many miles the trans filter may still be flowing acceptably. I also read in a 2010 Motor Trend article, that 70-75% of all of the contaminants in an automatic transmission after 70,000-120,000 miles, (According to the SAE, they said) came from the original manufacturing of an automatic transmission. If this is so, then it would appear that regular fluid exchanges, perhaps every 30-50,000 miles without ever changing the trans filter or cleaning the magnet would be OK. And on modern sealed automatic transmissions that have no easy way to get to the filter or magnet, a simple regular fluid exchange would seem sufficient (and the only maintenance that could be done anyway!). However, for vehicles that can last for many hundreds of thousands of miles and where the pan can be dropped and cleaned, it would seem ideal to drop the pan and change the filter and clean the pan and magnet, at least once in its life, and then after reinstalling the pan, exchange the fluid and then in the future, exchange at regular intervals. This would seem especially wise on an older, high quality a/t, like those for example, on the Panther chassis (Ford Crown Victoria; Mercury Grand Marquis: Lincoln Town car using the 4R70E for example), & which has been abused mainly through neglect, but is still shifting properly on a test drive. This would essentially ensure that any debris built up in the filter would not get pushed in any way back into the transmission. -This would also depend on how long the owner desired to keep the car in good shape, and how much he wanted to spend! Heck, based on what the Ford engineers were stating, it would seem that an early filter change and magnet & pan cleaning (at perhaps 5000 miles) would mean an owner may never have to change the filter, or clean the magnet, for a couple of hundred thousand miles or more, and could simply do a fluid exchange every 50,000 miles to ensure healthy clean fluid and a healthy operating transmission. But then again I am not an experienced expert at this. Just looking at the data that is out there…

once the machine is loaded up you hook up the to the trans cooler hoses, start the car, and give it about 1.5 to 2 minuets, and you open the drain plug, to let some of the overflow out. The temp is supposed to reach about 114 degrees F. close it up once the stream is at a trickle and let the machine continue to do it's thing to remove the old fluid with new fluid

I just did this on my kia forte, sealed transmission. Generally speaking: 1. Drain the transmission fluid from the pan; refill (mine has a fill level indicator port) 2. disconnect the transmission cooler return line; connect it to a hose going into a container with graduations 3. start the car and wait for the waste container to fill to an amount less than capacity of the reservoir (for me about 2qt) 4. top up the transmission reservoir (for me 2 qt) 5. repeat steps 3 and 4 until you are satisfied (based on the color of the fluid, or the total capacity of the transmission - for me 7.9qt)

Most over-complicated trans flush machine on the market. And this is coming from a career diesel tech. I can perform a trans flush in about 1/3 of the time with another machine like the Wynns TransServe, and without the hassle of a bladder,or ridiculously small fluid capacity.
