Sermon Outline (Judges 4:1)
In this passage, we read about a prophetess called Deborah. According to the scripture, Deborah and Samuel were the only two people who were called both - the Prophet and the Judge.
In Judges 4:2, we read that the Israelites were sold into the hands of Jabin, the king of Canaan. After being oppressed and suppressed by the Canaanites for twenty years, the Israelites cried out to the Lord for deliverance. Today, we as believers, often cry out to the Lord for help at the very last moment. We pray to God only when we have been pushed to the wall.
In the next couple of verses, we read that Deborah, on God's commandment, instructed Barak to get together an army of 10,000 men from the Naphtali and Zebulun tribes and lead them to Mount Tabor to fight against Sisera, the commander of the Canaanite army.
We further read that in Judges 4:15, the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and gave the Israelites a great victory. Not even a single person could escape from Barak and his army. Though the enemy's army was large in number as compared to Barak's army, it was only the Lord who gave victory for Barak. Today we might be facing a large number of enemies in our daily life, but believe that the Lord will enable you to fight and overcome all your enemies.
Praise the Lord!
