I was sad to see the life shorten in this chapter. I thought God was giving man less time to sin against him in a way. As well as cursing man kind for previous sins. Which reminds me of the verse stating GODS ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

Yes me too. I actually think God shortened life because living for 900+ years in this world full of sin is probably difficult. I bet He did it for our own good as He always tries to do what's best for us❤️ thank you so much for watching and commenting😊

And the people were disobeying God's command to fill the earth. No one was moving anywhere so the rest of the earth was still empty. The confusion made it harder to get along with their neighbors so they ended up spreading out away from the central area.

I noticed some differences in this chapter. My regular bible along with my study bible both mention that Nahor did in fact marry his niece. If you look at the family tree of abram (Abraham) Haran actually had three children (Lot, milkah, and iskah) at first I thought it was just saying milkah was a descendant of haran but everything I’ve looked at states she was the daughter of him

Thanks for pointing out Haran was two different people in this scripture. I assumed Nahor married Haran's daughter Milkah as in his brother's daughter when I read Genesis 11:29. I also liked that you pointed out that Abraham turned out to be the beneficiary of Noah showing favor to Shem, which starts the seed of Jesus Christ through Abraham. The Tower of Babel invoked memories of Noah's Ark, and you can draw parallels to both the Tower of Babel to today's society. Like during Babel's time, we are living in a immoral, corrupt society that feature us idolizing ourselves to the point we call ourselves "Gods''. Reading Genesis 11:4 closely, even the Babylonians admitted God would scatter them when they were building it. They knew God knew, and they still did it. They knew what right from wrong is, and they still did the wrong thing. Not much different than you see today. As I mentioned to you in Genesis 10 video, you can make a bridge from Genesis 9:25 (Noah putting a curse on Ham) to Genesis 10: 8, which Nimrod turned out to be the grandson of Ham, who produced Cush, who produced Nimrod. That set up the Babylon the Great, which produced to Tower of Babel in Genesis 11:4. Genesis 9, 10 and 11 all came together. Interesting guys produced kids in their 30s in Genesis 11 when we go through the Genealogy. Compare that to Genesis 5 where families produced kids in their 200s or even more.

@@BibleBujo My pleasure, Bujo. Thanks for reading and commenting, and thanks for talking about Genesis 11. I am glad you pointed out how important reading the lineage is in this video. While it was challenging, it turned out to be rewarding and fruitful. I learned a lot from the lineage such as Abraham being the beneficiary of Shem's son being favored by Noah (grandfather of Abraham), and the effect Ham's son had with Cush, who produced Nimrod.

I think it depends on what translation you read. My study bible along with my regular bible both state that haran was the father of milkah, lot, and iskah. And also states that he did in fact marry his niece. It’s interesting how different translations interpret things

if God said that humans won’t live past 120, then why did these people live several hundred years?
