Dr. McKnight's work is so needed. His view has changed from pre-trib to post trib. His view is informed by Jewish apocalyptic literature so his conclusions have shifted. I applaude his work and look forward to more.

Just for what it's worth, the scene in the sky that John describes with the woman and dragon and all turns out to be an actual view of the sky, with the "king stars" in the Lion constellation (lion = Judah) and more. Dr. Michael Heiser does a great job of laying this out here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lmievJupbquceZg

Dr. Heiser's work provides a world view that gives a comprehensive understanding of Scripture. And shows the unquestionable internal integrity of Scripture. Studied with him while he was alive and still often reference his work.

I guess it depends on whether you believe John was just a scribe as he claims emphatically in the first 3 verses, or you believe John was the ultimate author and not Jesus. It changes the meaning dramatically. Maybe thats why there are so many warnings about not changing it at the end.

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. PRETERISTS, HISTORISTS, AMILLENNIALISTS take away from the words of the book of prophecy.

Disturbing take on a book of the Bible. Fiction associate with the Bible? A lot of mocking. Comparing ancient Jewish writing. Irrelevant and a strange take. Sounds more like a humanist take than a Christian’s take.

What do you feel he was mocking? Scot deeply loves Jesus and was sharing a viewpoint Christians have held for centuries (and ignored for the last 70 years or so).

@@keithferrin felt the tone and content of the conversation was very dismissive / mocking of other’s views. He’s welcome to it just didn’t enjoy it.

You might be surprised to learn that there are words from 1 Enoch which are "copy and pasted" in New Testament books of 1 Peter and Jude. Studying the Jewish intertestamental literature gives insight to the thinking of New Testament writers. It's obvious from their writings that they were familiar with these writings.
