I don't think Jane Eyre was ever intended to be a romance, its a story of a woman that wanted to be self sufficient/ independent in a world where it was almost impossible for women. She only went back to Rochester after she had achieved that. Definitely not a romance in my opinion.

I'm sitting here like "why don't I like this, I am supposed to like this..." and I can't decide to DNF or not, because I'm aware that sometimes a book is slow but it ends up fabulous. I feel like sometimes I'm not a good reader because of how booktube talks about DNF. Like can't I just not like the damn thing? 😂

I want to reread Wuthering Heights someday, after all Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book of all time, number one, top, nobody can take it down, but I actually really hated it the first time I read it, so much so that I didn't finish it. Are you going to take away all those stickies from those Throne of Glass books or are you going to leave them in there for the next unfortunate soul who'll pick your copy up? Also, with the two most well known Bronte sister books unhauled from your shelves maybe you can take the opportunity to look in the overshadowed sister Anne some point in future. 2020 marked the 200th anniversary of her birthday and I caught an article about her book The Tenant of Wildfell Hall which seemed altogether such a different jam from the relationships her sisters were writing about, almost an open criticism of both Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, and sounds pretty radical for the time that has certainly piqued my interest.
