This will be a great update. CPT UI has been awesome, but anytime I can deal with one less plugin, I'll always go that route.

I've hard coded new post types and taxonomies so far (as the code isn't that complicated IMO). Tihs looks like a welcome addition and cross-linking everything in this very user-friendly interface seems like a big step forward especially for folks that haven't been touching custom post types and taxonomies so far and always wanted to try that. 🙂

This is awesome. Saves me from using another plugin with CPT UI or Pods. I only have one wish from this new feature as well as their Custom Fields. If we need to rename the CPT or a Custom Field, it would be great that ACF will also update the naming in the database. Pods does this and it is a massive time-saver.

Nice find for me! Im looking for a solution to allow users (basically customers on a onlineshop, which also will have an Community) to create a public Profile where they give insights about themselves in like skills, a vita, upload some picutres or put in texts..They will need a frontend access and the ability to to change Their profile any time they like. Also sections of the profile they did not fill in any content, should automatically be hidden. Do you think ACF Pro can do that without any extra coding? If yes, it will be worth to dig deeper and try it out, since im not a pro and learn as I go. Thank you for the video.. I really like your style of presentation. Straight to the point and easy to follow

Well with CPT UI you don't need two plugins. Just create what you want and it will give you a code that you can drop in functions, and then remove the plugin.
@WPTuts
Жыл бұрын
You can, but it's an added step to install, activate, create, copy code, insert into functions or snippets, deactivate, delete... Where possible, I'd always prefer just one plugin to handle the creation of meta fields, taxonomies and CPTs. It's just smoother.

Really nice. Very exciting to have all in one place like that. A key issue will be whether it’s easy to take control of existing CPTs in this upgrade then remove CPT UI.

This has thrown a decision spanner in the works 🙃 I've been using ACF for years with a lifetime license for pro and it's been hugely reliable. But having just shifted from Elementor (renewal price) to Generate Press I've ended up with Jet Engine Listings to replace the Dynamic Content For Elementor Post grid (which is excellent). Jet works fine and I was tempted to look at their Custom Post Type and Custom Fields to trim off 2 plugins - CPT-UI and ACF. But now... 🤔 (My Elementor site was pretty slow - I always wondered if that was the Dooo plugin as their own site is horrendous, the GP site is lighting by comparison) Anyone have any thoughts about sticking to ACF Pro and using their new CP (looks nice and clean) or shifting fully over to Jet Engine?

Great video. I'm currently not able to see my ACF fields in my elementor dynamic tags area. In my ACF window it says: All (0) | Sync available (11) With my Jsons not synced, is this likely to be the reason why? And should I press import on each of my 11 groups?

Seems like a logical thing to include! I still forget I need to install CpTUI when I want a custom post type! Q: exporting the PHP to use elsewhere, would that mean I could develop the CPT, taxonomies I need, custom fields, etc in a development site, then export and use in a snippet on multiple other sites without needing ACF pro licences on each site?
@iainpoulson
Жыл бұрын
You won't need an ACF PRO license to use this feature, but yes you can export your fields, CPTs, and taxonomies as PHP code to use on other sites running ACF, and they won't appear in the ACF admin UI, to save clients from altering them!

You can access this information now, but you can't load it into the ACF panel to make changes to it right now. For example, if you made a Taxonomy with CPTUI and a Post Type with ACF, you can link them but you can't edit the taxonomy details in ACF. From what @ianpoulson is saying, this will be coming to the final release, which is great to hear.
