Really appreciate the posting of this. I've seen parts of this show, but not all of it all the way through. It is amazing to see the intensity and focus. It is also a little rough in places, but given it's their 5th show, this is pretty amazing. If I could go back in time, I'd have been there.

I had moved from Scotland to NY in Feb 1982 age 22, this was the first Scottish accents I heard. The gig was stopped after a few songs with tech troubles. They were on first in a small club on a Saturday night - the audience had never heard of them. Neither had I , I knew Stuart from the Skids but never put it together. Watched them live many times since, last time in the Cannery in Nashville with crowd of 30.

Miss you Stuart...thank you for leaving us your legacy. Whenever my mom is feeling down I always quote @23:10 to her. It's been a joke for us since I first bought a VHS of this concert back in the early 2000s. It's amazing how such a seemingly inconsequential thing can end up meaning so much to someone else in a different time and place. Thank you, Stuart.

Wow, thanks for uploading this. Great piece of BC history I had never seen before. Very unusual to see them play The Crossing and Heart and Soul. Only video I have ever seen of them where Stuart's voice breaks on some of the high notes, but toward the end of the set he's relaxed and his voice is soaring. And one of Mark's drum heads breaks too, apparently, during "Inwards".. never seen that before. Long-time BC fan here, saw them live in Texas in March 1984. (Rest in peace Stuart Adamson 1958-2001).

I just remembered, the weekend of that show (I think the afternoon before they played), they appeared for a record-signing at a local record store at an upscale shopping mall in Dallas. I heard about the event on the radio at the last second, hopped in the car and arrived late, just in time to see them scrambling out the door and into a waiting van and drive away, with a long line of people trailing out the front of the store and into the mall, still waiting to get signatures. My main recollection is that Stuart was wearing sunglasses indoors, in true rock star fashion. And that he was taller and skinnier looking than he looked on TV. And that there were some screaming teenage girls trying to chase them to the van. Chalk that up to MTV I guess. heh heh. I wish I'd gotten there earlier.

Yep. They also appeared Townshend's White City and on Roger Daltrey's album Under a Raging Moon. They also toured with solo Pete and Roger at various times. Mark Brezicki and Tony Butler. There's a drum piece in Under a Raging Moon(long version) that's blistering. It's actually 5 famous drummers merged together.

yeah i think they wrote a few of the songs that featured on the crossing later on that year. In a big country was one of the last to be written. btw i always wondered why the track the crossing never made it onto the album, as its one of their best songs. they had some great songs around this time though which can be seen in the strength of the b sides and extra tracks on the singles taken from the first album
@Mudge07

Rob Worsfold easy to forget that vinyl was the original format and the limited space on an LP album meant not every piece would literally fit on the platter. The benefit at the time was that singles on 12” were boosted by those extra non-album tracks; Balcony, Flag of Nations, Heart & Soul etc.
