Cheers mate. Covered area just north of the baghouse could be an outside staff cafeteria. Never have to heat it even in midwinter what with the huge furnaces on the other side of the wall or staff canteen for the forklift drivers.
@WarrenLacefield

Those are good ideas .. but I doubt they would spend all that time and effort for that (instead of maybe a tent with food trucks, etc.). On the other hand, I have little idea what that area will be for ... except that something outside there seems likely to be very hot, hence the metal barrier in the middle. A really large giga-casting machine might fit that bill. In line with this "theory" might be the work being done on the natural gas pipelines. The Sunrise web site has a good discussion of how gigacast machines (made by IDRA and LK Group) work. The Giga Press has two sets of ovens for handling the aluminum alloy. One is powered by natural gas for melting (at 850°C). The other is an electrically powered "holding oven" for the liquid aluminum prior to die mold injection.
@DessieDoolan

@@WarrenLacefield My speculation is storage/handling for furnace waste, and for casting recycling. Might be a shredder installed for knocking down reject castings to a more manageable size.
@memrjohnno

@@WarrenLacefield The 2 ovens installed are essentially hoppers to bypass the individual 'bring to a simmer' gas fired pre injection heating. One thing we can be sure of is that the production is not casting limited so what is the delay in output?
@WarrenLacefield
8 сағат бұрын
@@memrjohnno Could be, as Dessie Doolan suggests, be a recycling area. True, casting is not limiting current production ... so what might they need a bigger casting press for? Since I am (suddenly 🙂) theorizing, maybe for a new vehicle or to combine 2 castings into one? About delays in factory outputs, I have no theory, but assume they are as however management plans them to be. IMO, the 4 day production, 3-day construction plan seems to be working and very much is being done all through the factory and the grounds.

Thanks Joe! Tunnel: @ 9:12 Notice that the telehandler does not drive on the road panels as speculated in the past. The panels are placed in furthest in first. @ 9:21 Notice the telehandler barely fits in the tunnel without the road panels installed. South end lift station: @ 10:58 Joe... While "dewatering" was involved in construction... It is a sewage lift station just like the many others around the site. Trench is for conduit to power the lift station. Better view @ 11:13 River road duct-bank: @ 12:08 As Dessie suggested earlier... This project may be related to the duct-banks built earlier to place the powerlines underground east of 130. But... Then they installed several new power poles. So we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Yes, if I remember correctly they spent at least a year (a long time ago, it seems) fooling around with that lift station or tank, whatever. When they began adding the new extension, I lost track of that and where it actually was. Then the new building commenced and the tunnel project, etc. But, lo and behold, that tank and related issues surface again.

While I agree that return water from the cooling tower facility to the heat exchangers inside the GF extension would be insulated, I’m not sure if water going to the top of the tower would need to be insulated unless perhaps to protect it from contact. By design the water being lifted to the top of the tower would be hot water to be cooled by exposure to fan driven cooler, drier air. Insulating the water to keep it hot doesn’t make sense. I’ve only seen those supply loops insulated in cold weather climates where freezing of the water might be possible if the system is turned off but not winterized by draining the system. I don’t know if the water from the building is going to be that hot or not. The only towers I’ve ever worked in were for residential building use and the supply from the building to the tower was less than 100 degrees F.

Well, if I wanted a nice tunnel at my car factory ... and also happened to own a boring company, I would seek to use that too.
