Data mining was always about finding relationship within large amount of data that became common place since early 90's. "Big data" is a term created to make doubly sure we are not talking about "small data" or its close relative "no data."

So, could the difference between Big Data and Data Mining be understood in this way? : 1. Big Data is an "Object", while Data Mining is a set of "Activities" that taken over this "Object" 2. Big Data is a set of SUPER large data, and (possibly) a lot of valuable info inside it, waiting for people to figure out by the activities of "Data Mining". and, to make the the Big Data to be more convenient/efficient to be "Dig" , we need something suitable to store this super big data set in appropriate structure, so we need Data Warehouse (DWH) to do this?

It wouldn't call data mining if it doesn't involve a big set of data.

He has equated 'big data' with 'lots of data'. This does not solve the definition problem, because 'lots of data' is not what most people *mean* by big data. What they usually mean is the problem of finding connections, relationships, patterns in huge data sets. So, in fact, what Rich here thinks of as data mining is what business types think of as big data.
