My trip to remote Indonesia had a crazy start. Due to flight times and connections, it took me 3 days to get to the Kei islands from Vietnam. The Kei islands are one of the remotest island groups in Indonesia. I went in the middle of the rainy-windy season, but what I experienced during my first night, I wasn't prepared for: a huge earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 happened about 300 km away - my bed and the whole room was shaking. A tsunami warning was issued immediately and the crazy thing is: this place is so remote, I was totally alone at my accommodation that night, even the caretaker wasn't there. The tsunami warning was canceled the next day and my 3 week long trip was awesome - well, it could only go upwards from that. This video is an intro for my remote Indonesian travel series: I'll share a ton of videos in the coming weeks and months, documenting my journey on paradise islands. The eastern regions, mainly Maluku and Papua provinces are my favorite parts in Indonesia and I'll show you why! The islands I'm about to show you will blow your mind!
