Dang what an unlucky way to break your rod. That fish was huge! I like that spillway at the end. I remember you catching fish left and right there last year when the water was higher.
@EngineeringHooksets
Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a great spot when the water is higher. I actually didn't even upload the 2nd half of our day there last year. Was planning on making 2 videos out of it, but I never got around to finishing it. 618 did a few videos there and had some insane catches, big wipers and blue cats if I remember right. Thanks for watching, man!

@@EngineeringHooksets I did recognize it from 618 fishing. He had some good days down there! If I remember right you smashed a bunch of drum and other species. Maybe that was the start of your reign as the undisputed drum king.

@BackroadsAngling ya know come to think of it, that was the first time I caught a bunch of drum 🤔🤔🤔

Personally, 3.79 lbs. I know people have caught 6+ lbers out of here, though

@@EngineeringHooksets let's be honest a 3.79 pound wiper will fight just as hard as a 5-6 pound bass still a good catch tho. My PB personally is around 9-10 pounds caught underneath a bridge on the Iowa river

u aren’t breaking 50 pound braid and a liter that’s why we cut
@tramccoy2490

What size braid your using?
@EngineeringHooksets
Жыл бұрын
I use 15lb braid on most of my spinning setups. Strong enough to bend hooks out of most snags but still pretty finesse. If you use a natural colored braid you dont even need a leader.

Haha sorry, if I didn't add a blur I risk getting demonetized for violence or something. It probably would have still been okay without the blur but I wasn't gonna risk it.

Really like the quote I took his life he took my rod. Those Asian carp are nasty I live around the southern part of the Kaskaskia river and they have ruined it for fishing and recreation use.
@EngineeringHooksets

Yeah they've ruined the Mackinaw river around where I live too.. You can still find decent fishing near the headwaters but over by Peoria where the river is deeper its just an Asian carp fest.

Great video man. Clinton lake spillway also has plenty of giant silver carp. A Chinese man once told me that they snagged 300lbs of bighead or silver carp in two hours right under the spillway. Water level has raised up again after the rainstorm. I’ll be hyped for another Clinton lake video.
