Working at an approximate 45° angle off the surface of the water this fish remains under control. The rod is kept in the power curve the entire time. Karin brings her arm back and moves her body to keep her 3 points...her fishing triangle, open and broad. She never allows that angle to close while she works her way into softer water, again giving her an advantage. This reduces any unnecessary stress on the fish and quickens the landing.
Although the rod flexes and there is bounce, she keeps even pressure on the fish and allows the rod to absorb the load.
Also notice that as she grabs the line to begin to bring it in, she reaches low, transfers the line to her other hand and again, maintains even, steady pressure never permitting the line to go slack. By grabbing the line low, she releases pressure from the top of the rod and avoids any last minute breaks.
