Looking for a running/ workout shoe with a LOT of soft cushion -- both front and back. Hopefully, this shoe has some energy return as well. May have to check it out. By the way, OUTSTANDING review. You have a VERY engaging delivery. Your reviews are some of the best on the internet. Keep 'em coming.

Hey Aubrey! Been following you since early last year and I’m supper happy for all the success, you’ll be hitting even bigger milestones anytime soon 🙌🏻 I wanted to ask you how would you compare this to the On Cloud Eclipse, I’m currently doing all my marathon prep with a Pegs 39 but want to buy a long run shoe to start my rotation and use them for my upcoming race.

The major difference is the stack height and the drop. This shoe is zero drop sir
@elijahmodnar1

zero-drop will give you shorter strides which will be ideal for your spine injury as shorter strides = less shock

Seems interesting 👍 Never tried an Altra shoe, but maybe 2024 will be the year for trying Altra 😀 Nice weather in the video btw! Over here we have snow and ice everywhere with morning temperatures between -9 and -14 degree celcius .. Horrible running weather 😒

I genuinely enjoyed running in this shoe. Can’t really fault it. Certainly give a try in a shop. The weather is very deceiving though because it looks amazing but feels -50 Celsius 😂😂😂

I know what you mean about the temperature.. But it keeps on snowing here 🙃 I do not think you remember this, but I did comment on an earlier video that I do not like treadmill running, but now I am kinda forced to it 😅@@AubreyRunning

I purchased both this weekend. Personally I think people will like the 2 more. For me however, a bigger, heavier guy, getting the shoes primarily for waking at work, the 1st one works better for me. But I'm also coming from a quad tendon rupture and the slighter stiffer sole in the 1st version gives me that slightly better stability as I'm trying to retrain my leg to walk and engage normally again.

I’m definitely voting for #2. I didn’t get on with #1

Hi Aubrey thx for your video, first Altra is famous for 4 things nr 4 is lack of durability although mainly on there trail shoes and oh my every Altra fan and reviewer have been complaining about there non gusseted tongue issues for years now. My favourite shoe has been the Paradigm 6 as I did not enjoy the 7 as in my opinion they made it similar to the Via Olympus 1 which didn't had enough air in there mix but my question would be if you would recommend the VO2 as a stability shoe as I seem to over pronate quite a bit and have now developed a issue with my subtalar and also have a Mortens Neuroma on the same foot a real pain as I walk about km30 per day oh and just a tip on your lightning, you are well lit but the shoes are not lit at all when you hold it up to the camera

I know you said a lot about the shoes and Altra but the key take away for me (selfishly) is the lighting feedback. That definitely needs to enhanced… I’m on it

How many miles do you think the outsole can last? I just ordered these to replace my Gaviota 5s which were more durable than the Bondi 8s, but still not durable enough IMO. I'm hoping these will be better (they sure look like they will)

I think a lot of the shoes now are good. I want to say at 300K until you need to change. Some would be around 450K but these I trust to take you around 300K at least

I noticed the Via Olympus 2 has a softer forefoot sole area (easier to flex the toe box up) when compared to the 1st version. Just curious if you felt that? I'm actually needing a shoe with a very stiff forefoot due to some big toe issues. The Via olympus 1 shoes stiffness numbers on par with a carbon plated shoe, the 2 seems stiff but noticeably less. But this is just me reading other peoples testing. How does that toe box sole stiffness feel?
@AubreyRunning

The via Olympus 2 is definitely more comfortable everywhere. It’s an amazing shoe that actually delivers against the max cushion brief for Altra as compared to the first version in my opinion.

Dude whats with that gusset toungue - each time you repeat that like mantra !!! Let it go mate - not everyone need it, and all it does it makes shoe less breathable - and tell me how often you have issue with tounge with no gusset - be honest though pls Myself have about 35 pair of running shoes and no even one pair gives me any toungue issue - gusset or not Happy no gusset running 😅
