My employer has set my pay schedule, my self worth too. I've been self employed for almost 40 years, 40 to go:) also... if I may.... All these years it has amazed me that people are so willing to work so hard for somebody else, yet not themselves. (You two are my kids age), the struggles that you come into are truly gifts, and you'll see that as time goes, the people that may most benefit from your bumps in the road, are your kids.// Looks like your environment is near perfect for them. Best of life to you

Good luck to you both on your first child. So exciting for y'all! Praying things work out for you guys in the long run. Congratulation on your expanding family! You guys are just like our family. Twenty years ago my wife and I moved from Toronto to a small town in the Ottawa Valley. No regrets. Our kids grew up in a safe and quiet environment with woods and farms all around. Our oldest is in university now, and our "baby" is a junior in high school, and they're both thriving. Have faith in yourselves and know that parenting is more instinctual than rational, and you're better equipped by nature than all the parenting books will make you. Small town life is always uncertain and usually takes plenty of hustle, especially as "new people" without the generational community ties than most of the locals rely on. Hang in there.

You both are going to be just fine. You are honest, kind and so driven. Moving to Bryson City and living the lifestyle with your mrw child will make it all worthwhile. Things will fall into place, and I believe things happen for a reason..we don't always understand sometimes..in hindsight, I look back on things and know why things happened the wayvtgdy did...I have two grown adult sons an 8 year old grandson, and I'm a retired Elementary teacher, taught 30 years...married to my best friend for almost 36 years...Its not always been easy, but we take one day at a time...we now want to make a move as my husband will soon retire..in two more years..to spend a few months in a warmer location, and traveling to the Mountains....Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains.. Love your videos, and pray everything works out. We will be visiting Bryson City this year for the first time. Brain fog stays awhile..you will be tired, it's okay..its all part of motherhood. Becoming parents will be your most important job,and most fulfilling job. Your subscribers will be here for you, and support you. Looking forward to you hiking with the baby and showing us more of Bryson City! God bless and take care of yourselves. ♥️

I cannot tell you how much I needed to hear your update and Jim Carrey quotes yesterday. We bought a home in Almond nearly three years ago and over the last two years I have been trying to pull the trigger on leaving my mind numbing career in Charlotte and moving to Almond fulltime. However I keep delaying this leap of faith because of the perceived stability and security of my career. I've allowed ego to play too big of a role in this change of life. I was actually counting down the days to my next attempt to leave my position when your new video popped up. Thank you for being candid and sharing the experience. I needed the boost of confidence. We are now committing to moving there fulltime in June and cannot wait to set up the life we want and deserve!

You guys seem to be on the right track mentally. I am a fan of Jim Carrey as well and think he has a good head on his shoulders. Congrats on the little one, hope all went smooth as possible with the delivery. I am 32 and my wife is 30. We have two kids and own a farmhouse in a small town in Ohio. We are staying at an Airbnb cabin in Bryson next week with our dogs and kids which is how I stumbled upon you channel as I was looking up things to do there. We recently moved back from New Zealand. My wife had a good job opportunity so we thought it would be a great way to see the world for two years. It turned out to be an amazing journey with no regrets. Not many people take the leap and do things out of their comfort zone I have noticed as I get older. I took a shot in the stock market which is something I have always been passionate about while in NZ and it worked out really well. I quit my job and do that full time now and many don't understand why I would do that lol. Time and freedom is paramount to anything else which is the best thing money can buy. I realized I already have everything I want (wife, kids, house, dogs & vehicles for transportation) and now just working on securing it for the long haul by building a nest egg that will cover the expenses to maintain each. Most people (especially in the US) seem to never have a level of just being content and over consume leaving themselves forced to remain in the cycle of needing to work for others to pay off their liabilities that diminish in value and excitement overtime. It has never been a better time to learn and understand option strategies to generate income in the stock market. People have forgotten about and have taken for granted necessities needed to live (home, fuel, heating, etc.) and at the same time think the most important things are electronics and whatnot. In short, I think the best strategy going forward is to sell monthly out of the money call credit spreads on QQQ and SPY consistently while investing into commodity stocks like GDX,GDXJ,SILJ,SIL,XES,URA and other neglected sectors that are a necessity for society. (There are plenty of vids on youtube to learn this selling call credit spread strategy I mentioned.) We are now seeing the prices of necessities ramping up quickly and people complaining about it because they took them for granted for so long while over consuming on the non necessities and digging themselves into large debts. My thinking is that consumer discrectionary is going to be on a long term downhill trajectory due to this. It is good that you guys own a home as they will continue to go up much higher in value as I saw occur in New Zealand. One million dollars got a really small place that was nothing special and vast majority were forced to keep renting because they could not save up for a home. This occurs when necessities start to ramp up in value and it takes a chunk out of all citizens budgets. Anyways, enough of my ramblings. Thanks for the vids and ideas of what to do while we are in Bryson, Cheers!

"Playing it safe is the riskiest thing we can ever do" quote comes to mind. The strategy has to be to take a high calculated risk and try to hit it big with the plan to then play it safe and be content if/when it works out. That is what I did and it worked. Regret is far worse than failure. When young it is the only time such a risk can be taken because once older there is not enough time to rebuild if it doesn't succeed.

Your journey sounds amazing and we can 💯 understand why you’d take that chance on yourself and also move to a brand new place! We hope you enjoyed Bryson city 🤎 and a big YES to that quote… failure is definitely preferable to regret. Playing it safe is the worst thing we can do with our limited time here 💗

I’m sooo excited for you both with the baby coming any day now! I’ll have to message you on IG but last we talked we were wanting to move to Asheville/surrounding area. We took a trip to NC, even drove to Bryson City for lunch. ;-) But out of state lending/real estate drama prevented us from getting a home there. A few months after this found out I’m pregnant! I’m 25 wks now. So for “stability” aka insurance etc, we are staying put for now. I really battled with choosing what to do and when to make the transition to NC, could I get a job in NC when pregnant, etc. Even though I haven’t gone through what you are, I feel I can relate to the anxiety of how to make it work without the traditional job along with 1st time mom fears! Huge thanks for sharing this with us. I think any time you take a big leap you don’t know how things are going to work. It’s courageous and also inspiring to the rest of us. Wishing you a safe and low pain delivery! ❤️

Oh my goodness... well first of all, BIG CONGRATS ❤️ and thank you for leaving this comment and sharing that experience. It REALLY supports me to hear other people (especially first time moms) are going through similar struggles. For what it's worth, I believe timing is always divine. There's a reason for your "delay" to NC and once you make it here you'll love it. Right now everything seems to be REALLY expensive here anyway (well, in general everywhere), so maybe this nice built-in pause will mean home savings once the market comes down for buyers. I am wishing you an amazing rest of your pregnancy and yes please find me on instagram and keep in touch with how it all shakes out with baby and move!! 🌄😊

I worked for the travelers insurance group for several years. Then, had my children and worked a couple retail jobs. However, I had my own business for 25 years, until I had to turn off a ringing telephone due to my husbands illness. Point is, I pretty much only know self employment. It is the most rewarding and fun way to go, in my opinion. The world is changing so quickly now. The one thing that is so concerning to me is that you were let go while pregnant and your insurance! That is so not right. Aren’t there laws against that? I mean, they should st least carry your insurance through the pregnancy. Might want to research this, consult someone. I’m sure you already have. I know you’re going to be fine, but walking by faith can be difficult at times. I think the air b n b will be picking up now that spring is here and through end of year. You live in w town that really is only slow maybe Jan.-March.so that’s good. Working on commission can be very rewarding. The more you work, the more you get out of it. I have friends who moved up years ago and he worked at NOC for a while. It was FUN and helped to bridge the gap. I know they are hiring and became corporwt recently. I moved her for the same reasons y’all did. Less Is more. Y’all have a beautiful home and all your basic needs. Plant you a little raised bed and out ya u some tomatoes in some 5 gallon buckets. We have lots of fish here. Seriously!

And thanks for the NOC hot tip! Let's see... neither of us has a "green thumb" 😂 we JUST learned how to keep our house plants alive!
