Most varieties of tomatoes don’t grow very well in the intense heat and humidity of Florida summers. Even during the ideal growing season, tomatoes can be a fairly high maintenance crop. However, the Everglades Cherry Tomato variety is an exceptionally easy to grow tomato that can thrive even during brutal Florida summers. They tend to grow into huge patches and can grow wild, with no special care. They aren’t my favorite tomato, but since they grow so well in conditions most tomatoes won’t grow in, I like to always keep some growing in my yard. This is a big patch of Everglades tomatoes that volunteered from a previous patch that I planted the year before. It got huge without me even trying to care for it.
