Enthusiasm for a whisky is contagious especially when inebriated. Thank you for always being so transparent. I really trust your opinion my friend. Cheers

Magnificent review!!!!! Whisky entertainment like no other 😁😁😁😁😁 We are so inundated by pompous, "precious" reviewers who take themselves too seriously.

Hello old friend, loved your review and I love Big Peat CS bottlings. I fell in love with the Big Peat Prohibition @54% bought 4 bottles at around $60 each bottled in 2018 released in honor of the 100th anniversary of US Prohibition. It's nose was so reminiscent of Ardbeg Corryvreckan I was blown away.... and I was sober. It's really delightful to drink if you love Islay and Cask Strength drams. I have a few more of Douglas Laing blends all CS and with Islay Peat they are inexpensive and enjoyable and thanks for sharing. Victoriana.... I now have the Bunnahabiann 12 CS and the Ardnamurchan 2.22 CS as you suggested and in about a month or so I will have worked my way into the bottles far enough to report back with my findings. Stay safe.

Interesting review. Have never tried Big Peat, but have been very curious about it. Nearly purchased the Christmas edition a few times over the years, but it has always been overridden by other bottles. My hesitation was precisely a suspicion that it would be overly young and brash, which you confirmed. Some day, I’d love to do a blind tasting of a variety of peated blends, of which there a multitude out there (I’m still discovering more), and see if there are any stand outs (…and if there really is a difference between them).

I think the CS Xmas version is cheap enough to give it a shot once

I just got a bottle of big peat. It’s not the Christmas edition but I hope it’s as good as yours.

They may be the second Big Peat review I've ever seen. I've not tasted any myself. Some A-hole salesman a few years ago told me he likes the 46% better, because that's what he had. Ha! Ha! Do you think this would make a good sampling of Bowmore? As I've never done that either. However, I came across a 26 year old 1992 Platinum Big Peat for about half of the normal $200. We'll see.

Beer goggles but for whisky 😂 Too funny. I can definitely see how the environment and people would affect your opinion of what you are drinking. Not to mention other drinks that night! And I agree with you enjoyment in the moment is what matters. Cheers!
