I run DJM tubular upper and lower arms from summit on my bagged silverado, they get rid of the riveted ball joints and they improve steering angle with stock spindles but not as much as you got with the cut and drill, been running them for 4 years and 130,000 rough miles with no issues

I've had good luck removing knuckles by turn the wheel and hitting the side of the knuckle with a 3lb hammer

Yeah that works too. Side hit is nice because you don’t have to worry as much about damaging threads. Sometimes it’s easier too

They make specially tapered bits to get the correct angle for the balljoint. It’s extremely important for a correct fit. If you want to use the “about good enough” approach, its better to weld a hardened machime washer on the top of the hole that is just slightly smaller than the top of the taper. (It’ll get stretched to size when you torque down the nut on the BJ)

You mentioned nearly doubling the steering angle. I know this is for drifting, but I wonder how much the steering angle could be increased for daily use. 🤔

@@2strokeboys191 yes exactly. I just recently acquired a GMT800 extended cab, and it's pretty cumbersome to park. I've had long trucks before, but I don't recall them running out of steering angle as quick as this does.

no hate just curios why would you chose to drift a truck instead of a more popular chassis like an s chassis or a mustang
@lifeonlimiter4519

I’ve drifted a lot of cars but the trucks are far more purposeful… load the bed up with tires and a jack and head to the track… less tire wear, more comfortable, it’s different etc..

@lifeonlimiter4519 we also need more US chassis drifting. We just opened three tracks in Idaho to drift and more and more we are seeing corvettes, 90s camarros, and one truck. Making me want to do a truck build lol.
