Superannuation was Set Up by Hawke/Keating, for a Very Handy Income Stream for the Unions !!!
@TLOV495
8 ай бұрын
And also an income stream for when you retire. Especially helpful for those who don't earn huge wages. Super is also a very influential mechanism in the economy for investment that is not needed from the government and would not normally be taken by private firms as super funds generally have a longer outlook on returns compared to private firms, meaning investments are allowed to run their course and not be expected to immediately make a return. This allows good investment into things such as infrastructure. Most people would have almost nothing in retirement savings if not for super so what's the problem? It's a cushion for retirement a plan, a nest egg. Also in extreme circumstances, you can access super early.

Yep I switched mine to ING after westpac lost over 3/4 of my super after investing it in something I never agreed to. It’s taken me 14 years to rebuild just over 1/4 of it back but at least ING lets me see what my super is doing every time I log into my account. I’m allowed to move it twice a year for free after that there is a small fee and I’m not kidding their fees are so small the weekly increase to my super covers it every time only once did it come out of my capital and then it was under $5. I nearly went with CBus but did not like the way the fees were done and I would have lost control of it too. I made my hubby move his from them to ING. I like the fact I can check in it anytime I want day or night and I can log into my super if I want to make a change without having to fill in miles of paper work or having to deal with someone every time I wanted to make a change.

Peta is without doubt the shonkiest, most disingenuous, paid for comment journalist in Australia. Her opening question: “This is a power grab isn’t it?” defines Sky Au journalism - make a judgement about a situation and throw to your supposedly expert guest, not to get their opinion, but to get them to back your narrative. Peta hates Industry Super funds because they actually make retail funds look bad. Industry Super funds return profit to their members while retail funds have to pay profit to external shareholders and their members. Industry Super provides superior returns for members. What’s the power grab Peta? I’ll take the superior returns. Peta hates anything union related because unions represent the rights of workers and Peta believes workers should be screwed down to the lowest wages possible and the minimum of workplace conditions. Peta stands for the employers having all the power and being able to exploit their workers to increase their personal profits. Hardgraves argument that, unlike when he bought his first house, and everyone could afford to buy and pay off a house using average wages, we should now encourage our young people to spend their retirement funds, that take decades of compounding to build up, on their home. How about we dump the policies that are making Australian housing some of the dearest in the world. He says that Industry Super wants to invest in social housing. As with retail funds, the Industry Super managers will invest in assets that they believe will provide a good, stable return to members. How is retail fund managers getting their grubby hands on the their member’s funds any different to industry fund managers. These guys ideological bias is flashing red but their outrage is completely empty. Unbelievable criticism of state Govts trying to build public transport through rail projects while Peta retorts with the ‘brilliant’ brain wave that these rail projects are a joke when we’ve got road projects that we can get stuck into. Hands up all those Aussies who want to spend more time on their daily commute. Australia is decades behind places like Europe on public transport but Peta wants more roads. You’re living in the wrong century, Peta. When Peta cited some doxing of Jewish people in Melbourne, she forgot to mention that people around the world have good reason to feel antagonism towards Israelis who have for 75 years oppressed the people of Gaza and the West Bank and are now slaughtering Palestinians by the tens of thousands because they have a god-given right to ignore collateral damage in their pursuit of Hamas terrorists. There has never been a more clear cut case of collective punishment and outright genocide than what the Israelis are currently doing to Gazans. The only way this situation resembles the late 1930s is if one sees the Gazans as the 1930 Jewish people in Germany and the Israelis as the Nazis.
