Aviation Training Relocation Programme to Enhance Inter-Service Capabilities and Operational Readiness in the Indo-Pacific
As part of efforts to enhance inter-service capabilities and maintain high operational readiness in the Indo-Pacific region, the Aviation Training Relocation Programme has been initiated by the United States Navy and Marine Corps and the Philippines. The programme is designed to provide intensive training to military air squadrons, involving elements from the Marine Corps and international partners in integrated operations that demand high levels of coordination and readiness.
On 22 May 2024, the Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA(AW)) 224 of Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 31, which is part of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), and VMFA-121 of MAG-12, 1st MAW, conducted flight operations at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The training was part of a unit deployment programme aimed at strengthening inter-squadron interoperability and improving combat readiness in a region considered critical to global security.
