Why is this legit pro not getting as many views as all the dumbass kids who've literally just started producing. Good stuff, Sylvia

In the old days, with tape, drums would be recorded varying the speed of it to record a bit sped up and then brought down to the original speed, and drums would roar!! Also, you can record drums to 48k and then bring them to a 44 session en let them play at the original recorded speed and they also sound lo and punchy!!
@parasiteunit

If those drums got any bigger, they would have their own gravity. Awesome. Also, the octave drop trick is one I have lost count of how many times I've used it. It just works SO well. And yes - you have a new subscriber.
@ChrrZ

haha, this comment about gravity is killing me.. this is so true, the drums sounds massive!!

I find it both surprising and liberating to learn that an acclaimed rock producer unabashedly puts 909s under her accoustic drum tracks and pitches stuff down to make it bigger.
@Karl_Squell

it's interesting but I was also kind of sad when I found out that it's standard practice to use samples. everything in rock is much more synthetic than I thought
@brandenlikesbeer

@@Karl_Squell If more people realized this there would be a lot less hate on pop and rap music for having "no talent". Rock/metal is arguably worse these days!
@the_neutral_container

@@brandenlikesbeer I agree to an extent. Guitar-based music has been pretty stagnant since, say the early 2000s and the most interesting interesting new stuff is happening elsewhere. That said, I still admire the craft a nice rock production with real mics etc. I use samples and synths all the time btw, along with my real drums and guitar in my (non-pro) studio and I think I have been layering them too at various points. I just thought it was something 'serious' producers in that genre (mostly) tried to avoid.

The parallel detuned overheads is magical! Holy smokes! I just tried it on a mix where I was struggling to get the drums to sound “beefy”... when I tried to add beef eq, they lost their presence. This technique made them sound so delicious, especially the sections that are heavy on the toms. I’m so glad KZitem recommended this video! Subscribed
