The yellowing leaves is probably due low magnesium. Try a tablespoon of epsom salts in a gallon of water and water the them. Works like a charm on my moringa, Barbados and mulberry trees. Usually once a month when fertilizing.

Thank you thank you thank you! My Georgia Peach is one year old and us about 30 ft tall. It's 3 feet from my house and I thought I absolutely blew it! As soon as Debby blows by, I'm going chop happy! My mulberry...I kept thinking it should be a mulberry BUSH, but it is 20 feet tall and I pruned it to 5 feet last year and pruned branches that were blocking my pvc fence gate and hanging over the property line. Now I have the confidence to chop chop chop! I'm so glad I found your channel!

Yay! I’m so glad it’s helpful. The mulberry can be pruned very aggressively so chop away. The peach is a little more sensitive so start by taking a third and you can take another third in winter. Just keep hacking away over time.

This is so encouraging to watch. I planted my trees very close to the house and am so overwhelmed by the growth. For esthetic I have to cut down so it’s not so crazy and walkable. This is my first fruiting year, year 3. I was concerned that next year if u severely prune I wouldn’t get fruit. I also have to prune twice in the summer in NC, my only concern is I can’t prune while the fruit is ripening and they overcrowd one another during this period. That and I just can’t figure out how to prune the apples and pears so I don’t kill next years fruit. New subscriber!

Nice to see you so much in such an average space an all looking so healthy.I have a couple mangoes, avocados, and jackfruit among other things. My two mangoes and avocados got destroyed in hurricane Ian, we were actually able to re-stand them and they are starting to produce also about 30 feet tall will be doing some majorpruning after I pick fruit. I am curious on What variety is your elderberry and peach trees are I am wondering if they would be able to tolerate down in zone 10 B. thanks for all the info and look forward to the next video.

The elderberry I have is the native one - Sambucus nigra ssp. canadensis. It should do well in your area. The peach tree is called a Tropical Beauty. It requires about 200 hours of chill hours so I don’t think it would do well for you. You can check the amount of chill hours your city gets to be sure.

Hi Petrina! I was going to plant fruit trees the same way you did, on a line 😊 along my 72 ft long side yard fence.how far apart should I space them and how far should they be planted away from the fence? My options are Meyer lemon, calamondin, mulberry, lime, orange, fig tree , peach…or anything you can suggest that can be planted on a line. I am from north Florida…I’d appreciate any advise you can share. Thank you ! I’ve been learning a lot from your videos !❤️

I start pruning their first full year. I want to get the trees use to it at a young age. If you let them get too big, it is harder on the tree when you prune it too hard rather than doing small prunes twice a year. Think of it like a haircut.

With the blackberries you only need to pinch the tips off each new cane when it gets to the height that you want it at. Then it will grow lateral branches. That will give you more fruit. Know what type you have. Everberring types fruit on 1st and 2nd year canes

I'm crying inside as I'm watching this video. 🥲They're your trees and you can do whatever you like but IMHO... Summer pruning is typically done in late summer when the new growths have matured (which varies by zone and tree type); it is not a "winter pruning" in done during summer season as demonstrated here. Summer pruning should be done in a similar fashion as to train an Espalier tree -- perform a heading cut on a new shoot to promote fruiting buds (if applicable) and reduce/slow down a branch's vertical/horizontal growth. Typically, one would not remove a fruiting branch during summer pruning; however, fruit thinning (minimizing number of fruit per branch/cluster) may be done to increase fruit quality over quantity. Lastly, not all tree types need summer pruning. No worries. Live and learn as they said. Cheers~

Love all your videos. Elderberry in the wild grow very big. You might want to move it away from your house. Same with the lychee, so roots don’t get in your foundation. They need full sun protected from high winds. They take quite a few years to bear full fruiting. I don’t know if it true but they have better fruiting every other year. Our avocados and mangos have better fruit every other year too. I have a longan in full sun and it’s very big. Do you have any directions on properly pruning peach trees to get them to fruit better ?
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a

@@RuthSosa-v4dthanks for the tips. I ended up removing the lychee. I’m still thinking of how I want to handle the elderberry. I do have a pruning video on my fruit tree playlist where I show the details of how I prune my peach tree. I got over 200 peaches this last season from my single tree.
