We are finally back with another update on the G35 that we purchased at the end of last year to be our drift build. Starting the new year we are excited to announce that Lordco Auto Parts has come on board as a channel sponsor for us and this means that we should be better equipped than ever to dive deeper into the cars we are building. We put together a shopping list for the G35 and headed over to Lordco to get what we needed to start moving the needle on our drift car.
We started by having Milo implement some of his fabrication magic and build us seat brackets and risers for the driver's seat as well as a fully custom exhaust using some materials we scored at Lordco along with new O2 sensors, a Flowmaster muffler and a long Vibrant resonator. Unfortunately even with 24” of muffler and 18” of resonator, the de-catted VQ has proven to be freakishly loud and we are going to need another muffler to hopefully cut down on the unnecessary volume. Milo did an awesome job with this exhaust though and every inch of it sits higher than the frame rails. He even built us some custom tips in a similar, but larger, style as the exhaust tips he has been building for our Kaido Racers.
After the exhaust was done we jumped into installing the SerialNine vertical lift hydraulic ebrake and decided it would be coolest if we were able to fit it in the factory emergency brake location. With a bit of finesse, we managed to get it to work in that spot and we’re stoked on having a good hydro with a stealth install.
To amp up the aesthetics of the car a bit we managed to score painted side skirts and rear bumper extensions from our friend’s parts car. These look way better than the faded black plastic ones that our car came with and really help show how low the car is. Lastly, for a visually striking presence, we turned to SFP Aero and their sleek tail light covers to inject an aggressive and stylish flair, setting our G35 apart from what we’re used to seeing done with this platform.
Dylan managed to win a bid on a bunch of awesome VHS tapes from Japan and in a rush of inspiration he recruited Sandra, Jake, Karly and some friends to come by the shop and frame a bunch of old magazine spreads of different Kaido Racers and get them put up on the walls.
We hope you enjoyed this update!
