The Union Home Ministry has allocated ₹655.60 crore to flood-affected Bihar from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) as the state grapples with severe flooding that has impacted over 12 lakh people. Major rivers are overflowing, displacing residents, with Sitamarhi and Darbhanga being the hardest-hit districts. The Indian Air Force has joined the relief efforts, using helicopters to airdrop essential supplies in areas that are difficult to access. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an aerial survey of the inundated regions following significant water release from a barrage in Nepal, which experienced record rainfall. Sixteen teams from NDRF and fourteen from the state disaster response force (SDRF) are actively engaged in the safe evacuation of affected individuals.
