On 6th June 2023, I went up to the summit of a mountain on foot!! It’s the Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the highest mountain in Wales and England. It is the 2nd highest in the UK after Ben Nevis (in Scotland). I used the Llanberis path, which people say is the easiest of the available six paths. It is however the longest of the routes though. Personally, a novice with no previous mountaineering skills with the sun beating down it was quite a hiking challenge. I found it reasonably steep in patches. However, no sooner than the summit was reached the struggle was instantly forgotten. It was a great personal achievement being a first timer and not being a fitness fanatic. The sense of success was overwhelming to say the least. The views of the Llanberis valley from the summit was just stunning. Awesome!
And then something beautiful came to my mind. I have lived and worked in the UK for many years. My roots are from the Indian state of Assam. Assam is a land full of colourful dances and vibrant music. I thought what best place I could ever choose than bring a snapshot of Assamese culture with the mighty summit of Yr Wyddfa as the backdrop. I may or may not climb Snowdon again, but the memory will be cherished forever!
