@@A.Edilbi It does not bother me at all :), I just think it is funny that you see chaos but you are creating it yourself. Other people said you drove aggressive or too fast but that is not it. It is fine to ride faster as other people, your driving is just a bit unpredictable for other people. Cycling in the Netherlands is all about the flow like dancing. You ask me about a timestamp but it is like a bad dancer that asks for a timestamp, it is a continuous thing. Something I saw happening a lot was: you were approaching people you want to take over and there was oncoming traffic. There are several ways you can handle this. 1) Claim your place on the road (in most cases that would be in the centre of the road) increase speed take over the people before you reach oncoming traffic. 2) Claim you place on the road, keep current pace and "triple", oncoming traffic would have seen you coming and would have given you space. 3) Stay behind the people, stop peddling wait for oncoming traffic to pass and overtake. *) What you do is stay behind those people in front of you, don't stop paddling and just pop up in front of oncoming traffic. It only doesn't end up in a collision because other people are anticipating that horrible move. Sooner or later you will have some tourists as oncoming traffic and you will run straight into them, they *don't* anticipate.
@jennekestegeman
2 жыл бұрын
I think 3:02 is a good example. The lady cycling in front of you reduces her speed and then stops to give way for oncoming traffic. You overtake her at the same time, which is an unpredictable move (for a local) and would have created a collision if your speed was higher and the guy did not give way...

The only reason it’s Chaos is because no one is using hand signals including you and especially you! Also your handle bars are ridiculously low and most likely banging your knees when you turn a sharp turn. Slow down in busy streets you don’t have the right of way and use your bell to much. Well, I didn't see much problems with how you cycled through the streets. A decent speed and an overall good handling of the situations. I think the only time when you had to stop fo a zebra crossing was at 9:44 minutes, as the people trying to cross the street had to stop for you, as you didn't stop. In all the other cases the people crossing the zebra crossing didn't had to slow down for you when you where crossing the zebra crossing. Also the Folkingestraat, starting at 6:58 is an annoying street, as it is a shared space for pedestrians and people on the bike. I really don't like that concept as cyclist and pedestrians move on too much different speed and also in a too much different way (straight line vs more irregular line). I prefer cyclists in the middle and pedestrians on the sides. Also, the part in front of the JUMBO is a no cycling zone, but I admit that I am too cycling first towards the bike stallings before stepping of my bike, as it's more practical, but I know that pedestrians are at that place in the right, so I have to adjust to them. I couldn't see if you used your arms to show which way you were going when you turned left or right, I think you did.

Great bike ride, I love the video, you passed the cycling exam with honour. The critical comments confuse me. The only "incident" I discovered was at 8.00 in a mixed walking-cycling zone, where you politely rang your bell and the pedestrians made way. Well, that's how it's supposed to be in a mixed zone. Nowhere angry faces or angry yelling. I see happy people, walking and cycling in a beatiful city and I hear a lot of buzz of people talking. No cars.

Between the first ten people commenting on your video there are 7 or 8 mentioning your speed. Are these all wrong? Outside city centre you can safely drive faster, but in the busy centre you should also take account of the fact that other people might not be able to react as quickly, your speed forces them to also adapt and you overestimate their abilities. Best regards, please just think about it.
