Loved this, great at the end to see the wife and lots of "real" food. Looks like I'll be adding this to my "challenges"

It was a really fun one, never too far from good food or places to sleep. Was a great way to see southern England! Hope you enjoy it too!

Thank you. Yea, that was a tough bit. I’ve been up similar bits like that on the Great British Escapade event in the dark and also fallen off 😂 quite loose to hard to gain traction if you put your foot down!

Looks a great course! I always struggle to find any off-road routes in Devon and Cornwall. The organisers have provided a great route! I live near Winchester, but probably the rules would not allow me to stop there
@CycleXplorer

The trails in Cornwall were really good, lots of gravel paths that took you around the hills. The climb up to Dartmoor was amazing. My main memory of Devon was the up and down coastline lol You may be able to stop at home, if you let everyone else! The route went right near me too and my wife met me and rode along for a bit which was nice.

Seems like you enjoyed it! Happy with the hardtail? The route shows a fair bit of tarmac but your footage is mostly offroad. Happy to stay in hotels or you think bivy might have been fun?
@CycleXplorer
Жыл бұрын
Hi. I was happy to use a hardtail. Any on road was broken up with off road quite quickly and a lot of it was up hill! With the aero bars and tyre choice it rolls quite well on tarmac. I chose to sleep in hotels despite loving a bivvy. The weather was looking rather grim and I’ve slept out a fair amount this year. Maybe I’m getting soft…. I did a video of my kit and bike set up too m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/u6uKzHxmgZWYeoo&t

Legendary work from a Legendary cycle warrior. You captured the field in Devon where I was stood on my bike very literally sobbing into the cock-pit. A few minutes later I caught up with some embarassed looking ramblers who had witnessed the whole thing 😂

You ever thought of getting a gravel bike?
@CycleXplorer
Жыл бұрын
I have got a gravel bike albeit it is more set up for the road at the moment. For this ride I chose the mountain bike for comfort because some of the terrain was quite rocky. The weather wasn’t too good to start with so I had a bit more grip with the bigger tyres. Over a long distance I don’t think I sacrificed too much speed as the mountain bike enabled me to spend a lot of the day riding non-stop without any issues.
