Great watch there young man! You’ve got Kramer hair from the American sitcom “Seinfeld”. Looking forward to your next one. Hopefully we can see that nano burn wood again😃🙏. Take care Jethro and thank you for giving us another tour of your beautiful backyard 👍🏼

Glad you enjoyed it :) The Nano hasn't burned any wood since the whole 'bikepacking with an egg' episode. I would have done it on this last night but the opportunity for a full camp fire was too much to ignore. I did use the Nano, as I always do, twice a day. With the Trangia burner it is my absolute go-to stove.

Like that you marked this trip as a positive one. Think that's a really good attitude, to see the good. Because despite a bit of hardship and poor weather, it was good! Thoroughly enjoyed this series of mini-adventures. But as always, I'm left wondering where you'll be heading to next. Then I realize, that it's winter, almost. And the opportunities to hit the road will be limited. But there's always the spring to plan for. Thanks for taking us along with you buddy! You take care Jethro!😊

What a great video series Jethro, very enjoyable. I did feel for you in the first few days especially in that dense ‘jungle!, but it all worked out in the end! I did virtually the same route a couple of years ago, riding from Shropshire to see my cousin in west wales…also stopped at the £5 campsite in Llangurig! It’s a lovely ride, fantastic scenery and so quiet and isolated. I bumped into a farmer on the top between Llangurig and Cwmystwyth and had a long chat - I don’t think the poor fella saw anybody from one month to the next😂!

No way! Great minds plan routes alike obviously 😉 That campsite was great, exactly the kind of place I wish there were more of - a reasonable price for a flat piece of grass and a refill of the water bottles.

No, I think your ride had more rain than my rainy-est ride. Here in the Netherlands it's almost certain there will be some rain, but in general it doesn't rain all day or several days in a row. And when we had that (several rainy days, everything getting wet, even the sleeping bags), many years ago, riding together with my youngest son ... we decided to take a train back home.
@JethroJessop
11 ай бұрын
I managed to keep my sleeping gear dry. Wet sleeping bags are a valid reason to bail and I would have done the same for certain. I can put up with a lot as long as I know there is some warmth and comfort at the end of the day - dry socks, warm sleeping bag etc. Tale that away and nothing is very much fun anymore.

Have you thought about doing a collaboration with another famous cycling KZitemr...and I don't just mean Alan.. but next year let's say you could do a trip together in Europe and boost both your channels? Like Bike Touring Mike did with Ryan Van Duzer. Enjoyed the rides BTW.
@JethroJessop

Not something I've thought about seriously. Partly because I don't know any famous KZitemrs and partly because I'm not that keen on riding with other people. I mean Alan doesn't count of course but in general I find riding with others just adds stress to a trip, trying to match speeds (I'm quite slow), decide when to stop, make route decisions, and when both of you are trying to film a KZitem video at the same time... Maybe one day but its not something I'm actively pursuing at the moment.

Looks like a good day to finish the ride!😊 And it must have felt nice to put your feet in dry shoes, in the morning;) Were you able to keep your sleeping bag dry for the whole ride? As down doesn't do much good when damp.... The arches of that old viaduct is pretty impressive! I'm expecting to see the train to Hogwarts pass by and pick up a cycling wizzard, any minute;) I otherwise agree with you and Janine above; infrastructure, especially modern, can really be an eyesore after you've spent some time in nature. And yes, awesome hair as usual!😉 A real asset to this channel, because It's always got an interesting story to tell;) Of what you've been up to, of which way the wind is blowing, air humidity, and possibly other tales... It wouldn't add to the credibility of your story, if it stayed in a perfectly neat, freshly washed hairstyle after five days of tent living, and all-weather adventure, with helmet on and off;) The only one who could actually get away with that is Alan! But then again, he is a man out of this world, who moves in mysterious ways, appearing and being made visible unto our eyes, now and then at the whim of a Haribo-shaman with an untamed mane. It may be the same for the shaman as for Simson, the magic is in the hair😉 And, for all I know, there are guys spending hours at the hairdresser just to get that rugged windblown look, which they might as well acquire for free by going for a bike ride.😉 If you're still out there cycling with Alan, I hope you're having a really good time both of you!!😊 Hopefully staying warm and dry;)

Dry socks are a luxury beyond luxury and one of the things that bikepacking really teaches you to appreciate. I did also manage to keep my sleeping bag dry so things could have been much, much harder on this one. I've been out with Alan this weekend just gone on a very different kind of trip - no camping, no wilderness. It was fun but I was pretty ill and the route wasn't great. There will be videos coming though so I won't say any more.

@@Bikepacking I can imagine. I'm sticking with phone resolution! Even the GoPro footage is heavy by my standards and I don't use the highest settings there. One day I might up my game but I fear it would start to suck some of the joy out of the rides themselves so I keep it simple for selfish reasons. This is why I don't have a drone or a dedicated camera.
