I have the 2016 model Strive CF 8.0 that i bought in April 2016, and no problems at all with my shapeshifter after over 1000km

The biggest problems were with the 2015 model of the ShapeShifter. Canyon improved the ShapeShifter with the 2016 model.

@@MTBguide Even the new 2019 model with the Shapeshifter from Fox is not very reliable. One of them i have here with a burst seal. Goes to Fox now to get it repaired.

@@AlBorland3877 That's unfortunate... Canyon said that the Fox ShapeShifter would be more reliable. I tested the 2019 Strive for only an hour so I can't really tell anything about reliability. The previous SS model (from Canyon, revised model) was quite reliable, the original not. I hope you get yours fixed soon.

Hey @nath, I'm looking forward to buy a 2017 strive cf 9 from a guy here in my town. Can you tell me if the shapeshifter system was reliable through those passed years? Cheers!

They should have add two shallow self centering pins on the two adjustable arms to better keep them in position and prevent the tiny screws from getting to much shear stress ! Here it looks very fragile to me. And a small handle on the main frame could be suitable to be able to switch between the two mods on the fly without getting that much weight.

Thanks, most of the trails you see are part of the MTB route Strijthagen (NL) and Rode Beek (NL). A really small part was Seeblick (DE) if I recall correctly.

just want to know what is the travel on the Trail Mode, in original SS XC mode is 130mm.
@MTBguide

spoonmarvs DH-mode is 160 and as you said XC is 130. TR-mode sets the geometry right in between making it 145mm.

spoonmarvs I see what you mean. That's an interesting way of showing how the bike runs through the suspension and how the geometry changes (also pedal movement). Definitely something I will consider filming in future suspension related videos. Thanks for showing!

In XC mode the travel is 139, not 130. I think the TR Mode will be closer to 150mm, do not you think? But, maybe in TR Mode some climb properties are lost compared to the original CX mode?

When I bought my bike, in 2015, the Canyon website announced 163/139 mm. I have done an internet search for the 2015 model and I always find that the rear travel is 139mm Is it possible that with the shapeshifter 2016 and 2017 have 9mm less in XC mode? In any case, my question is if you lose some of the climbing capabilities with moddefixxer in Trail mode

The Fox Shapeshifter on a 2020 model is a little different from the original Shapeshifter made by Canyon themselves. The one shown in this video is not compatible, but you can get the Shapeshifter II for model year 2019-2020 which is.

hello, another thing regarding SAG setup, where you will set it in TR or still in DH mode?
@MTBguide
7 жыл бұрын
+spoonmarvs for setting sag I keep it in TR mode (not reinstalling the ModeFixxer tot set it temporarely to DH mode). Before installing the ModeFixxer i had the sag setup in DH mode. After installing the ModeFixxer I didn't need tot make large adjustments to the sag.
@spoonmarvs

means you set the SAG in ShapeShifter DH mode then you install the modefixxer and you didnt change anything, right?
@MTBguide
7 жыл бұрын
+spoonmarvs correct, it's a good baseline. I only made minor adjustments (usually a tiny bit softer suspension) based on the trails that I'm riding.

how does it switch between two mode?
@MTBguide

You have to take the Modefixxer Pro out of the bike and change of the position of the arms. The arms are connected with 4 bolts and depending on the position of the arms your bike will be in Trail of Downhill mode (also check the video around the 1:30 mark).
@RON_ZHOU
8 жыл бұрын
right, we just have to change the position manually, is it what you mean? or can we change it during riding bike like Canyon did. Cheers
@MTBguide
8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have to change it manually. What I also try to make clear is that it takes quite some time to change the position with the Modefixxer. With the ShapeShifter it's about 1 second but with the Modefixxer it's about 15 minutes since you have to take the linkage of the bike apart. It would've been nice if the Modefixxer was designed in a different way so that the bolts of the Modefixxer were accessible without having the need of taking the linkage apart. If this was the case you could still switch modes under 1 min. If you ride a bikepark one day (DH-mode) and some general trails (TR-mode) the other day, you'll appreciate not having to take apart the linkage every time.

The quickest way to ruin your Strive and pay for the privilege! Just maintain your dam bike. This is like putting a steel bar in place of your shock because it fails and needs serviced from time to time. Sake!
@AlBorland3877
5 жыл бұрын
Do you actually realize what the Shapeshifter is designed for? It's not a shock, that dampens movement. It's just a device that changes the position of the shock itself. It does not move, as long as you don't change the mode. Comparison with the steel bar is complete nonsense.
