If you were watching this at age 9 there should have been a few others who were a bit shocked; the slot it was in (early afternoon) was entitled 'Watch with Mother' and was intended for children under school age!

Remember watching Bill & Ben and being a little apprehensive about weed for some reason. Her high pitched voice and being so thin. It might have been the time my mother gave me 4 tabs of blotter and said "what does it taste like" I replied vinegar and spat them out but to late I'd absorbed a huge dose of LSD. I watched TV for 2 days solid and the cartoons were great but I couldn't understand anything being said it was just squeaky noises like weeds voice.

I am 70, sitting in a sunny spot in an English winter, trawling the past for sequences of my life for something I am writing about 70's and 80's feminism. Slipping back further and further than I intend, I find I have gone far. That first TV experience, in black and white. Not our own TV. We didn't have one. We were up the street at Mrs Smiths. It would have been hot. This was Australia. I was young, but my bro was three years younger. We were on our own and into the screen. And the song: 'Time to go home. Time to go home. La la la la la. Time to go home'. I am here now (how many years on?), some invisible hand of the puppeteer has lifted me into a time warp. Then I remember: 'Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men'. I was so thrilled to click my way into this domain and see what I never expected to find. Mick you were already too old to be impressed. I trust another life awaits you and the chance to feel the magic, not the strings attached. Love, and thank you for the opportunity.

I too have such memories, the TV was at my grandparents, and in his shed were terracotta flowerpots. My father ran a business based around Chrysanthemums and there is an uncanny resemblance between Weed's leaves and those of the flowers we grew for a living. All these years later and the algorithm or some divine spirit led me to your words and I was much moved by them as I ponder the thoughts and choices of our ancestors on this wet summer day in the uk. Thank you for brightening my day!

I loved these shows as a kid, along with Skippy and other shows of that era. Looking back now with my 'medical little-weed' and really wondering if the creators were stoners and if Bill and Ben were a representation of themselves or friends. Two wonky moving gardeners that love the weed that seems to thrive in their garden... shouldn't the weed be pulled out? Genius! Even if if wasn't meant to be. Andy Pandy, on the other hand... I'll let the rest of you oldies re-look at those, if you dare, and let you guess where its creator was directing us. I see all these shows, even this far back trying to influence our minds in one way or another and what better place to start with us as innocent children.
