Asking questions that other people say is inappropriate, these things must be challenged. We've all had seasons of bad luck good luck. Up's and downs. When people say you can't say this or that. The guy who played Uncle Remus on Song of The South won an Oscar for his performance. Did anyone ever tell you that he did? Starring with Hattie McDaniels in the same movie. Slavery was a hideous time in America, but guess what? Like all places our nation grew adapted and evolved into having a black President. From slavery to President. People change and so do other things. Political leaders aren't about finding complete answers it's always about them staying in power.

I learned a lot (in an exaggerated sense) about the different experience that a lot of black people were exposed to from listening to Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, D.L. Hughley, Chris Rock etc. there is no way to understand each other without communication, and comedy toes that line and makes you think, and if you think hard enough, grow.

I'm 51 and I had an eye opening event when I was 18. I grew up in the suburbs, central Calif. After high school I drove with my mother across country - coast to coast and we spent some time in Washington D.C. We had booked a hotel by phone and didn't know where it was in D.C. Now D.C. is, or was, highly segregated and our hotel was in an all black community. Every car, every shop, every pedestrian - not a single person who looked like me. I've never felt so spot lighted in my life. Don't get me wrong, I didn't feel scared or threatened, just uncomfortable. It was weird and I've never forgot that feeling when I hear other races talk about being in a sea of white faces. No one hassled us, they're just folks trying to get through their day like everyone else. A very nice lady showed my mom and I how to get our subway passes and what trains to take to the Smithsonian. Even the smallest taste of what it can be like in anothers shoes can stick with you for life.

This is a genuine reaction video to a Bill Burr bit about race. (he performed this in front of an all black crowd and everybody was rolling btw) I’m Asian and I wish he would do more on the Asian population, it would be an honor. I grew up around white friends so there was always an expectation to laugh whenever jokes about Asians arose to prove I wasn’t without a sense of humor. Which was always uncomfortable because most of the times it wasn’t funny or original at all. But when I was by myself and watched certain comics like Dave Atell, Chapelle, Kyle kinane cracking on Asians I’m always lmao because they actually are creative in their art craft and it comes from “pure” humor.

I'm an Australian Caucasian and I went to LA, New York and parts in-between in 1981 for 5 months. One month I had a Greyhound Bus Pass so got to experience the armed security guard at the Bus Stop and at the local grocery store (never happens in Australia) but I met many African Americans on the buses and as long as soon as they stopped laughing at my accent we got along fine. The closet I got to a Bill Burr feeling was in LA. I like to walk/explore streets at night and walked a couple of streets away from the Famous Chinese place downtown. I walked into a Bar which on one side was one long stool bar. Everyone was African American the place went silent we looked at each other...then I spoke...they realised I was a dumb foreigner we all laughed and I had a great night.

I was dating a black girl back then and that's where she lived too! I completely related. LOL. When they said hey let's make a run to the liquor store I hopped in the car with a few guys and they had to leave three guys in the car with me so nobody would hassle me. It's too bad we have so many racial issues today. Even though there were a few different neighborhoods I think we got along a heck of a lot better than the media is trying to push today. They were my friends and they treated me really well. All were famous (in the music business) guys and they couldn't have been nicer people. We had a blast in those days. I was like “OH F**K NO IM NOT TURNING ANY WHICH WAY ON NO CRENSHAW!” I took the first turn I could until that gave me a new route that didn’t include Crenshaw, Normandy, or MLK. This is funny. I'm a white guy married to a black woman and live in one of those "mixed race" neighborhoods of Boston. Before I went to nursing school, I took my prerequisites at Roxbury Community College in one of the blackest neighborhoods of Boston and was literally the only white guy in all of my classes (though, to be fair, there were the occasional white women, but not many). I'm actually more comfortable being the only white guy in a crowd of black people than I am being in a totally white crowd. However, I wasn't always this way, coming from the suburbs and the country, it took time and an open mind for me to come full circle.

Being Canadian and having grown up in Alberta, I always wanted to go to New York. It took me 41 years to get there and I loved NYC! On the way to JFK Airport my cab driver got lost in Harlem. Even though I was in a cab, I think Bill Burr described that situation quite well.

Every ethnic group has a culture, and every one is different. That's what leads to racism. However, all those varied cultures share common core values, and that's how we fight racism. Focus on what we have in common.
@SteveKasian

Not true. What leads to racism is influential people, entities, and media harping on our race and constantly drilling into peoples' heads that oour differences should not be discussed. Our differences are PRECISELY what must be discussed. Our differences should be celebrated. Bill Burr is ALL ABOUT DISCUSSING OUR DIFFERENCES, AND CELEBRATING THEM. "Racism" is learned; It's not natural. Birds of a feather flock together - that's natural; Birds of a feather hating other birds of another feather is NOT NATURAL - It's LEARNED.

@@SteveKasian I disagree. Look at all the tribalism there is in the world, especially the less developed part. Hutus and Tutsis killing each other because each tribe hated the other. It's in out nature to organize ourselves into groups and scapegoat other groups. So you need to teach people to counter their natural tendency to be racist by showing the common humanity of all people. To assume one culture is racist while the other is incapable of racism (which CRT seems to do) is a recipe to perpetuate racism.

St brigde and kept walking for about 6 to 7 blocks. It's now 130 am , and I release I not not in Kansas anymore. Come tp.find out at work the next day, the bridge was kinda of a birder of the neighborhood. My co workers, said I you stupid, don't come in our neighborhood at 2 o'clock in the morning by yourself. 19 then. And learning. It always amazed me how in one direction you went . It was all this color. And then other way. So yea there is a problem . But bill burr says it the way it is. Funny as hell too

I'm lost..who can I ask? I don't speak the lingo..Is this a bad neighborhood?..Is this triad gang country? Will I get mugged?..Sh*t them city lights look miles away...walking down dark ally's, backstreets, trying to get back to the city street lights....most nerve racking hour I ever spent just trying to get back to civilization. Won't be doing that again in a hurry.
