Cadets of Bergen County. Drum Corp....Not Marching Band...thank you! I marched 96 Crossmen. We were under the same Corporation that year. I had a few friends in Cadets and we saw them every so often. Cadet's Corp director George Hopkins would even stop in and have lunch with us. I remember them having to raid our semi-truck for Valves one night before the Olympics. The Olympics happened while we were on Laundry night...so we Crossmen all sat in a Laundry mat watching it on TV. Watching the whole Comical Circus clown Conductor thing was both funny and kinda embarrassing (the kids these days say Cringe) at the same time, but we already knew it was Jay Bocook who worked with us a lot. (Jay probably arranged half of the music my High School played.) Then Cadets got on a bus and drove to the next Competition with practically no downtime. That year...they did double duty and had to learn all sorts of extra music. I think Cadets show was Copeland. (We were doing The Sultan Fainted, Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square, and Birdland that year.)

The performance by the 27th Lancers in 1980 in Lake Placid was a DRUM CORPS performance ... 1996 was "straight man" to the comedian ...

But after he was Hamgravy in Popeye, the stage performer in The Cosby Show, and himself in Don't Worry Be Happy. (I'm old. 😆) Didn't know he'd been on Sesame Street besides the old "New Way To Walk" song.
