I was at the 1970 Gold Cup on Mission Bay and watched Muncey pull the same start. Pure awesome.

The best driver in the history of the sport, dancing across the water on the knife edge of disaster. Damn, I miss the thunderboats!

Of current drivers J Michael Kelly has mastered that start. Come from behind to hit the line on time with way more boat speed. Andrew Tate and Jimmy Shane have both tried it with mixed results, jumped gun or not enough faster to get enough lead to more inside. Guess where they learned it.
