I was 10 years old and we lived in Lower Michigan- We had snowmobile food service to bring us food- I played with snow on the roof of our house. We also had an ice storm that year and I ice skated on my own drive way! So fun as a child!!!!

I remember a school bus that was completely buried in our apartment complex. All you could see was snow outside our patio deck window. People used snow shoes to get around. I'm 66.

In January ‘78, my then fiance, walked from downtown Holland to my house on the north side so that he could be with me and my children during the storm. He wore a snowmobile suit and someone in a 4 wheel drive vehicle took pity on him and gave him a lift the last part of the journey. It was indeed, a memorable storm. My kids remember jumping off the roof into the drifts that were up to the eves.

'78 neighbor just had newborn, 4 under 10 yr. old. Mom packed meals in Tupperware in large hard side suitcase. Dad walked through 3' snow 1/2 mile with the case to her. Took 40 minutes one way. He called to say he would warm up before heading back.

I almost died in a car accident in the Blizzard of 78 because of high snow banks not being able to be removed. I'm 67 and thankful to still be here.

I was further south, but I remember well the winters of 1977-1979, as they were brutal. We haven't had anything like that since, i.e. three straight record-setting winters.
