Great to see the entire top 100 from 40 years ago! My 10 favourite songs are 'Eye in the Sky', 'I Keep Forgettin', 'I'm So Excited', 'I Know There's Something Going On', 'You Can't Hurry Love', 'The Look of Love', 'Africa', 'Heartbreaker', 'Maneater' and 'Gloria'. Thanks for the video!

There are a lot of artists trying to stay current with a new music channel that was getting big.

Great video! The ten “just missed” songs that dropped out of the Hot 100 that week included some huge artists! “Valarie” - Steve Winwood “New World Man” - Rush “Gypsy” - Fleetwood Mac “Athena” - The Who “State of Independence” - Donna Summer “Somebody’s Baby” - Jackson Browne “Cool Magic” - Steve Miller “Shakin’” - Eddie Money “I Ran” - Flock of Seagulls and “What’s Forever For” - Michael Murphey

Lots of these songs (mainly American) sound like they were actually written 40 years ago. Fortunately, there are also many with an endless expiration date.....

Awesome. Was hoping you would throw together some early '80s lists. This would be around the time that 9-year-old me got MTV, so this was a lot of fun to watch/listen to.

Thank you Francis and brilliant to see a different approach with the Billboard Hot 100 exactly 40 years ago 👍 The guys from America could even pass as guys from today with their image. I dread to hear that Pia Zadora song live! Some Midlands influence with Musical Youth and Judas Priest. It breaks my heart now seeing Fleetwood Mac videos after Christine McVie's death last week. Great singer and songwriter. Same with Olivia Newton-John. 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me' is my absolute favourite. Love Culture Club and my favourite song of 1982 and one of my all-time faves. 'Love Come Down' is my second favourite on this list. Great song and very danceable. Sounds fresh even today. Third is 'Gloria' by Laura Branigan. Great song and again another singer who died too soon. Fourth is close between Frida, The Pointer Sisters, Men at Work (x2), Luther Vandross, Musical Youth, Patti & James (gorgeous duet), The Clash, Toto and many more. This is a classic chart oh and a good #1 with Toni Basil. This shows how competitive the US chart was back then. Even the big names had lower ranker hits. Anna Oxa did a cover in 1983 of 'What About Me' in Italian called 'Senza di Me'. Much better than the original.

#62 is the only song that matters on this list heading up, and peaking at, #13. Still my favorite song of all time! Thanks for posting.
