Putting other things aside, Billie just threw that reporter under the bus, and we all can predict how her fans will take her statement when it comes to Variety and its staff, which will be blamed on that poor gay reporter.

honestly…I think you’re right. I was so confused by her post. It’s also wrong to badger celebrities about their sexualities and it’s concerning how much that has been happening, and even happened to her prior to at least what was published in variety, can’t speak to what happened in the room in the moment of course. But yeah words mean things. That kinda badgering is still an issue just a separate one from “outing” which deserves to not have its meaning obscured by misuse

Also - yes, a) Emerald Fennell is a creative genius, b) self-care, and community care, is important, but I think the answer is c) she’s f*cking with us. I mean, between saltburn and promising young woman I think she’s hilarious but her words cannot be trusted. Always a smirk behind them. Always. And I should note! Maybe she really does want to remake Jurassic Park. Maybe she would claim she’s 100% serious. But Ari Aster got a lot of mileage out of claiming Midsommar was an “80s teen romantic comedy” or similar, I think she’s riffing on that idea here, that she should pick the most outrageous answer possible that kind of makes sense, in a way.

Billie was not outted and I hate that she used that specific word. I get if she was uncomfortable, but words have meaning and that is an incredibly dangerous word to be throwing around 🤷🏾♀️. I feel bad for that reporter.

My favourite bits that made me snort with laughter were 5:48 “ma’am looks like she would ruin your life and forget your name” and 17:18 “ someone needs to check on Emerald, make sure she’s eating“. Always entertaining content. Thank you. Anatomy of a Fall was very good. I can also recommend Finnish film Fallen Leaves. Not gay but was quietly uplifting. As for the new Color Purple musical, I’m cautious about watching it in public in case it makes me behave like an infant. The original film made me bawl my eyes out and Taraji Henson in the new version is bound to make me drool 🤤.

I really don't think Billie was outed I get that she's young and I get that she doesn't want it to be a big deal but she had already said she finds women attractive.
@faith37557
9 ай бұрын
it wasnt up to them to confirm that she liked women. everyone finds women attractive lol women are beautiful asf but the interviewer did not have to ask her "did you mean to come out". she would have done so in her own time...or not. it was up to her and they took that from her, not maliciously but they did nonetheless.
@Willow_moon364

@faithwilliams3755 I think saying women are attractive and saying you find women physically attractive are two different things, and I don't think it was necessary coming out in that article, more responding to a question. I've seen that she said on an insta story after that that she likes men and women which is kind of coming out? It was maybe an intrusive question she wasn't expecting and I think people are being pushy but being outed means something different to the context she's used it for

I'm laughing about you saying "that was probably the worst topic to end the episode with" and asking us for ideas otherwise you'll keep bringing weird shit like that - because that was actually my favorite part! hahahah and I love your humor, you built it up with the "I'm feeling less than enlightened" thing and some sort of suspense vibe, made me curious... Then that unexpected reveal. Aaaanyway, I'm just here trying to make you continue being weird and expressing yourself 'cause it's dope. Also one note on Emerald Fennell: unfortunately I created some sort of mental block on her because Killing Eve's S1 was my favorite show, and then I hated all other seasons... She was the showrunner for S2 so I can't think of her any other way than the immediate first person to ruin KE :(

I remember an interview when she was like 16 or 17 saying she liked both boys and girls so I don't think I was super caught off guard nor do I care that much what other people do but I kind of had a moment of like good for her Lucille bluth meme lol

I read an article in Indiewire about Eileen and the "gross" character Thomasin MacKenzie plays. It seems like she's more bored and sexually frustrated. Does she do some odd/weird shit? Yes! But, from what i read, I'd hardly consider her gross. Understandably, Thomasin is hoping people don't let the character's bizarre behavior stick to her

I just saw a cute little film called, Castaway. It was great. Now onto the dumb news of the day - I don't know what's the big deal? Haven't we reached the point where our queer folk need NOT declare their status to the world...NO STRAIGHT person I know has to, so WHY do we have to? I never understood that? And who didn't get that Billie was a lady lover, should have been corrected when she came out with LOST CAUSE! JC!
@csmith5420
9 ай бұрын
Straight people don’t declare because it’s obvious when they’re dating someone, or they declare in non verbal ways. For gay women, we’re often mistaken just for close friends - especially since there are behaviors some straight women do that seem very couply with their female friends, but are not actually so. So people assume friends first, unless you’re full on making out. And even that has been done by straight women, some famous, just for fun. You may not have to come out and label yourself, but sometimes you do have to clarify.
@foolishgrey
9 ай бұрын
I disagree with Billie. If she was already dropping hints and commenting liking women, then she was not outed. And since you made it public, reporters have a right to clarify and ask questions. She threw the reporter under the bus...hope there is no backlash to the reporter..she was just doing her job. Also 21 is already an adult...it's not a child. I'm sorry. Everyone is trying to make 21 olds seem like children and have no accountability. You are an adult. If she assumes everyone knew, her hints were then very poor...also the media doesn't want to speculate because people could be straight, weird etc and they would be blamed for outing people or spreading lies. This is why you should always be direct and honest. It's almost 2024.

Eh I dunno. I do feel like Scorsese’s comments came across that way, but that was more in how he said it. Jodie Foster wasn’t really saying the same thing though and I feel like what she said doesn’t come across as bitter or derisive like what he said does, more just like feeling exhausted by the phenomenon which is kind of understandable considering the sheer volume of those kinds of movies - and this is coming from someone who likes many more of them than the 3 Foster listed lol
