Lmao shes not selfish💀 she has been in and out of relationships for years, several boyfriends, and she took this recent time to realize she would always rely on someone and needed time to focus on herself, such a good message😔💅✨

When she first became famous she was 13.....she didn't know how to deal with the fame. She suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts. She has learned to be happy and positive. This song shows that!! Listen to all Billie songs and you will get to 10 thousand. Periodt!! She is the best ever. Her brother produces all of her music! He got a Grammy for producer of the year! Snap snap snap!!!!!!

this whole song is abt growth and how shes grow as a person and how shes exited to grow even more. billie didnt think she was gonna make it to the age of 17 and the fact that shes past that and is looking forward to her future is amazing in the past she didnt see a future but now she does and shes in love w it!

It’s really interesting because they’re so clearly subverting the “love song” genre by using established tropes and then fully twist it. The way she defies genre just gets me every. Bloody. Time. Like when she sings “I’m in love...” pause and one would usually expect something like “you” but instead hits us with MY FUTURE. And she does this throughout the song, starting with tropes then basically kicking those tropes into a ditch and turning it into social commentary and deeply personal reflection. While also sounding calming and soft yet wanting to make you move, at exactly the appropriate time when the topic is that of not taking on imposed expectations - the beat is like an energy boost, like a shaking up towards growth. So good

“Sit here and appreciate right now” - Yes. Subbed. This girl as a teenager achieved what few have IMHO- Winehouse, Franklin, Holliday- vocal perfection. Can’t wait for more, y’all. 💜HOG brought me here, glad to stay

I freakin' hope EVERYONE gets the message of this song and takes it to heart. I am so tired of seeing family and some friends stay in crummy relationships because they're afraid of being alone. Get to know yourself FIRST. Who are you? What are you about? When you figure all that good stuff out, you'll be ready to find someone good and compatible to you. Not settle for someone who's not a good match for you.

Insanely good reaction guys ... thanks! I think you were spot on with pretty much everything you said (except maybe the "selfish" part LOL). This is the first song I can think of where she has expressed a desire to want to get to know herself, to like herself, to look forward to the future ... for the first time she is declaring that she wants to live. That beat drop seemed to draw a line under her usual themes of self-loathing, the pointlessness of life, and suicide.
