I love how all the long time employees turned on the family.

For me, the biggest thing I took from this is that in order to be successful, you absolutely cannot compromise the brand's quality for the sake of cutting costs. The corporate jet example just shows how the CEO has absolutely no concept of that. Ensuring that you are at the top of the industry will allow you to enjoy that jet with peace of mind.

It’s a fictional TV show. In reality, the vast majority of the snack food companies have not stuck with the original recipes. Most have changed them to make the unit cost cheaper. When you look at the broader food market the quality has definitely gone downhill for most processed food.

@@Rushinator1 They're always looking to make things cheaper or smaller and up the price because as long as their rivals are doing the same thing none of them lose.

I just chuckle because what started all this was Axe tasting a YumTime product that he enjoyed from his childhood,..and nearly barfing. Where there is product mediocrity and negligence toward a customer base,..there is opportunity.

You could tell he's full of shit because nobody who actually started at the bottom makes a point to rub your nose in it. Also they'll tell you what specific job they started in (in the mailroom, as a clerk, etc) .

Bruh no one actually likes twinkies or consider them luxury goods. They shouldn’t change the recepie bc most of the money they would make is based on large volume rather a large profit per item sold.

Those brands run on nostalgia. You lose that taste and you lose your customer base.

a lot of people do; for example, here in Panama there was certain level of mass hysteria when they started twinkies again after maybe 20+ years gone. But because they don't taste the "way they did when I ate them as a kid", they didn't had the impact they were supposed to and they failed to be as ubiquitous as they were in the 90s. So yes, people do care

I used to check Hostess in for our daily deliveries when I worked on the receiving dock. Their products were fresh never frozen. Now they've shrunk their products and tweaked the recipes to handle freezing. You're better off going to smaller brands.
