Please do a video on your current home. The furniture pieces in that room is gorgeous as well as the decor pieces. Talk about where you bought each one and the thought process behind the design. Also address the color scheme. You can turn that one room into 3 separate videos. And if the rest of your house is as nice as that room you will have enough videos to spread out until you move. Also take your audience along as you shop for future purchases.

Looks great - nice job. How does the billy bookcase fit on the knoxhult evenly? Billy is 31.5” width and Knoxhult is 30”. Thanks!
@KatjaNordkvist
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I found out about this recently - in Europe they are exactly the same width (40 cm) but in the US there’s a little difference. I think this is because Knoxhult is actually a kitchen cabinet and you have different standard kitchen cabinet measurements than we have in Europe. I’d go for the IVAR cabinet instead of the Knoxhult then!

Hi Katja, thank you for such an amazing video! My question is about paint. At first glance, it feels like the whole construction paint color is the same as the walls. Is it true? I'd like to understand if was it done intentionally or if the colors are still slightly different? I'm curious to know what you think would be the best choice - keep them all one color (walls + bookshelves/cabinets) or make it different (of course, per your style)? Appreciate your response! Keep up with a great job - you're a true inspiration!
@KatjaNordkvist
Жыл бұрын
Hi Ekaterina ☺️ Yes, they’re the same color as the wall! But the walls are matte and the bookshelves are painted with a semi glossy paint made for wood which makes the color seem a little lighter 😊👍🏼

Nice shelve/book case! I didn't get step 5 and 6 though.. Where do the 8 pieces of wood go? And what are they for?
@KatjaNordkvist
2 жыл бұрын
If you build it wall to wall like we did, you’ll need to cover up the holes on each side of the bookcase (the holes between the bookcase itself and the wall on each side) if you want the built in look - we attached the 8 small pieces of wood to the walls, cabinets and bookcases on either side. One into the side of each cabinet on each side, one into the bookcases on each side, and two into the walls on each side (we attached these on the walls with angle brackets). They’re for supporting the two long pieces of wood that we attached afterwards on each side to cover the holes between the bookcase and the walls, otherwise there would be nothing behind the two long pieces to actually put screws through and make it stick. I hope that was a little more clear, I regret every day that we didn’t record it back when we built it😅 and thank you 🙏🏼

I just painted it with a brush (it took such a long time) honestly it’s hard to do it perfectly, a lot of places the paint would start running after some time. I made sure to go back to those places and smooth it out before it was all dried up. But some places I didn’t notice it in time - luckily you can just sand it down and paint that small area again if that happens ☺️

Also from IKEA (Knoxhult) but we put on the moldings ourselves. But if you’re from the US I recommend that you use IVAR cabinets instead, because Knoxhult has different measurements that don’t fit with the BILLY bookcases in the US because they are originally kitchen cabinets.

I do not recommend watching this video. The end result is good, BUT the commentator does not demonstrate all of the steps taken. There is mostly a load of talking about WHAT to do, while pictures of the finished product are shown. Would have been SO MUCH more helpful to show images of what you are directing the viewer to do, AS you are talking about the steps of work. "10" for finished product, "2" for easy to follow depiction of direction.

Might I sugest that you stop saying step 6 or step 9 but show people how you are doing it, it was difficult to follow with the speed you were talking, if your doing a hack show it, it looks great but there is no real indecation that it is "billy bookcases" not trying to be negative just helpful
