As I watched this I realized Billy has embodied those old blues men he saw growing up ...right down to the way he drinks and talks like ...a coooooool cat ....who isn't prepared for class and doen't care but wants to just feel goooooood daddio. haha its like he even putting on a show in the why he speaks. giving us the experience he had as a kid talking to these other worldly bluesmen... who were also drunk too id bet hahaha

Embodied them so much, They copped John Lee Hookers riffs in La Grange and ZZ Top got sued by Hookers song writing partner and copyright holder for it. John Lee wasn’t personally involved in the law suit.

I started 2 months ago at the age of 63 because my back is messed up and I figured if I’m sitting on the couch I’m going to learn something. Thanks for the little bit I picked up on !

I can't remember a time that I wasn't enamoured with the guitar...even at the age of five years old I would stand on a foot stool and sing along with Roger Miller's King of the Road and strum on a broom..and then at 11 my grandfather bought me a little acoustic guitar from Sears...one of the sunburst one's..and then learned the chords to King of the Road by listening to the record and then I would get up on the foot stool and sing and play....and now at the age of 63 im just as enamored with this wonderful instrument called the guitar....🎸🎸🎸

What I took away from this episode was something Marty Friedman talks a lot about in his interviews where he talks about playing, I know Marty Friedman and Billy Gibbons are miles apart but stay with me Its about how you play the notes, how far you bend, how fast do you bend? Do you slide into a note or do you hammer it on really quick? Theres tons of choices when it comes to how you play something and those decisions are what makes your voice on the guitar uniquely yours, Billy Gibbons plays the same way he talks, nice and smooth with a little bit of swaager to it Imo :) cool episode, this is my favorite series on KZitem at the moment and look forward to every episode If you could get like Yvette Young, Mark Arm and Steve Turner, King Buzzo...man I have a whole list of who I'd like to see!!!

I'm from Houston Texas, I met Billy at the club Roxy which is behind the galleria in early 2000's. He was at the upstairs bar wearing his signature all denim put the yellow rose of Texas on the jacket, sitting at the bar apart from his friends scribbling some lyrics on a napkin. I introduced myself, told him I was a big fan, and his reply was well buy me a beer...I bought that asshole a beer ( bud ) and he wouldn't even shake my hand much less give an autograph.
